New fuel pump - too much gas

1995 Mainline with straight 6. Got it running this past weekend after it had sat since 1967. :) All was great till the fuel pump gave up and started spewing gas. I replaced it with a new one and now the fuel is flooding out of the carb?? The car did run in the driveway a for bit with the old pump and there was no flooding. Could the new pump just have too much pressure?

I took the old pump apart and could not see any tear in the diaphram?? The look of the old one with the glass bowl on bottom is great but I couldn't find a rebuild kit for it. Anyone have a lead for that?

    Thanks!

    Gilbert

Rebuild kits for FUEL PUMPS have not been made for a lOOONG time, DON'T buy any NEW OLD STOCK, won't be any good. Likely the float needle in the carb needs to be cleaned up if all brass or replaced if it has a rubber tip and your new pump will work , Check the float for leaks and filling up with fuel ---Bud

Dang! The aftermarket pump was 52 with vacuum for wipers - 36 without.
