anyone know of any local independent parts house i.e. NAPA/AUTO ZONE/O'REILLY/ADVANCE AUTO PARTS that would have available:

    Master cylinder or rebuilt kit

    wheel Cylinders or rebuild kits

    front and rear brake shoes

I'd like to buy these parts locally so I can see what I am about to get, mail order houses often require a lot sending back and exchanging and wasting time and money, freight has gotten really expensive.

BILL, I have the best luck with NAPA,--next O'Reilly. I only have the old parts swap manual and it's got lots of discrepancys, be a good idea to get the new one from the club store if someone don't come up with some good numbers . BUD

Master cylinder NAPA 3081 About $80

    Brake Wheel cylinder Coni-Seal WC13220 48-54 Hudson LF-11x2.25 1 1/8 in

    Brake Wheel cylinder Coni-Seal WC13221 48-54 Hudson RF-11x2.25 1 1/8 in

    Brake Wheel cylinder Coni-Seal WC13600 40-54 Hudson LR-11x1.75 15/16 in

    Brake Wheel cylinder Coni-Seal WC13601 40-54 Hudson RR-11x1.75 15/16 in

I'm buying these cylinders locally for $10 to $15 each.

    Brake Shoes NAPA RS-18 Big Stepdown Front 2 1/4 x 11

    Brake Shoes NAPA RS-55 Stepdown Rear 1 3/4 x 11

I understand that these shoes do not have the correct radius for the anchor pin. Walt Mordenti had a tech session in a recent WTN and in his tech books about removing the pin and grinding the radius lower to make them fit.

Otherwise have somebody re-shoe yours. Truck repair shops do this in most cities. I think Bill Albright does them also..

If your 50 is a pacemaker with the narrow front shoes, these PN won't work.

    Advance Auto Parts #'s

    Brake shoes, Wearever # FR55

    Wagner # PAB55DR

    Front Wheel Cylinders 1 1/16

    Tru-Torque # W41718 left

    W41719 right

Brake Hoses Tru Torque # H19015 Front and rear

Pacemakers use smaller front brakes and cylinders than long wheelbase Hudson's. I own a 51 Pacemaker and I just bought the shoes front cylinders and hoses at Advance. reasonably priced.

I work for Advance, our books don't show front shoes or cylinders for LWB cars Can't remember #'s now but I believe there are a couple of 1 1/8 cylinder #'s that will work. The #'55 shoes are OK, as I have had them on my car for sometime now. It's the LWB shoes that are a different # that are the correct size that have to be modified to work.

    Hope this helps J Spencer

PS Brake shoes listed on computer, other #'s have to be looked up in Tru-Torque catalog. Master listed, but not available at this time

    Gee Walt...

 How would Bill know that Norm has these parts in stock?

Most come here because they need the assistance.... and are looking for help... unlike some I suspect most who ask questions are with out the "inside knowledge" needed to get to the place they need to maintain thier cars... kinda the reason some freely give information via web sites or take the time to answer questions here or via email. Seems abit like having to join a club to get to the knowledge needed to make your car go!
