Anyone know what this transmission is?
-
Its been sitting in my garage for a while. I would just like to know what it is.

-
From 1950 to 1954 Studebaker built its own Automatic Transmission called the PowerFlight. It became too expensive for the company to continue building its own transmission and turned to Borg-Warner for help.
Starting in 1955, Borg-Warner Automatics were used in Studebaker vehicles and are based on the Ford-o-Matic, that Studebaker called Flight-O-Matic.
Borg-Warner continued to build Studebaker's Automatic Drive and market the unit overseas even after the demise of the Studebaker name. It was used by European firms such as Jaguar, Daimler, Humber and Ford Zephyr/Zodiac. -
Thanks, The guy that gave it to me said it was a powerglide. This tranny worth anything, or is it just scrap?
-
It's worth something to a Studebaker guy.
