Does anyone know the wheel size on 48-54 Stepdowns. I know they are 15 " 5 on ? . What other makes are interchangable?

    Thanks

they are 15 on 4 1/2 , AMC , Chry . are a nice fit - Ford is also 4 1/2 but I dont think the Ford center hole is large enough .the Chry-Dodge-Ply. are easy to find in lots of widths.

15 on 4-1/2 and 5" wide, except for the racing wheels, which were 5-1/2". Do a search for wheels here on the forum. There was a thread not too long ago that Ivan Zaremba talked about the difference and the wheels that he obtained from Smokey Yunick for racing apps.

If you mean exact fit wheels from other makes at that time then that would be Kaiser, Nash and MoPar. The MoPar rims will work but have different retainer clips. All were manufactured by Motor Wheel of Detroit.

5 1/2" rims were standard on convertibles and optional on all others.

    Larry-

Are you sure of this? I thought they only difference on the convertibles from all others was tire size? (7.10 versus 7.60)

Larry is correct on the rim size. A 7:60 was just enough wider than the 7:10 that it needed that extra rim width.

Actually the 5.5 were only standard on the 49-54 convertibles, and like the closed cars they were optional on the 48's.

But you can make them whatever you want(within reason). PO of my 49

had 6" hoops installed on stock centers and they work great with the

    P235-75R15 Coker Classics.
