Im possibly selling my '47 Studebaker Champion 2 door. Its in bare metal right now, i have tow sets of front and inner front fenders. I have the grille, hood, bumpers, lights, most interior, rear fenders, and some odds and ends but it is all mostly if not, it is all there. I have the original wheels as well, but this would most likely not be a resto candidate. It was originally a 4 cyl, but thats been long gone, the bellhousing mounts were cut. It needs some floor work, body work but the frame is mostly solid, some rot toward the front where the suspension mounts too, but i would just put a mustang II front end on it. I have a 225 slant six with a 3 or 4spd if interested. I would love to finish it but i just want to work on one car to run a targa new foundland. Let me know PM me or email me at mrk544@roadrunner.com. Let me know what you think its worth if interested.

Hello all. I thought I would just drop you stude lovers a line to inform ya of a truck I found. Not sure the year but it is a stude pick up. The body isn't that bad and I was told that it did run when parked. Was going to try and fire it up but the batt was dead. Its at a local junk yard. Its a long story on how they ended up with the vehicle but he said they do have the title. I thought they said $600. I would have grabbed it but I didn't fit in the truck....I'm 6'6" which didn't leave me much room. If anyone is interested drop me a line at aryan1300r@hotmail.com and I'll be more than happy to grab the contact info as well as takin a few picks of her. Its a shame that she is just sitting there. She is sitting right in front of an early 50's dodge truck. another one I didn't fit in...LoL. Which is ok cuz I have 3 resors going on right now......LoL. If anyone does decide to grab her I can store it in my barn until you can make arrangements as long as it doesn't sit there for a year. Just let me know if there is anything I can do for ya. take care and be safe.

Hi guys,

First of all let me admit that I'm not really a fan of some of the older Studebakers, especially the styling. To me most of them are either a love it or hate it type of thing.

But there is one in the Feb. '08 issue of Hot Rod magazine, in the Homebuilt Heros articles that is an absolutely beautiful truck. It is a '37 Studebaker Coupe Express pickup with a supercharged 289 Avanti motor in it and I could definitely enjoy and be proud to own one like it.

Just wondering if any of you had seen this one or had even heard of this pickup? If you haven't done so yet, you should try to get hold of the magazine and check this one out.

hi... new to this forum, though I'm very active on the ATV forums, so I think I can figure this out...

I have 2 vehicals I want to restore... but how... I know some of you will probably cringe, but assume there are others out there like me, that want as original a looking vehical, but with modern safety & drivetrain components...

... with fuel prices going up every day, I need to decide how to do my resto... I had planned to redo our Willey's CJ-2A, & Studibaker pick up, with modern drive train components, but lately have been wondering if I should nix the 440, & 3/4 ton 4 X 4 drive train ( I had intended to do an on road low slung 4 wheel burn out machine, with the 440 )... but lately have been thinking it would be alot more fun as a economical daily driver, than a gas guzzling burn out machine... been toying with the idea of fabbing as many pieces out of aluminum, to lighten it up as much as possible, & installing a new 4 liter 4 cylinder diesel...

so now the big question... am I whacked to want to modernize & economize the truck into a daily driver, where I could enjoy it daily, rather than to take it back to totally stock, or stuffing a big block into it ???

just as an FYI... the truck is pretty complete, & straight, in rough but restorable shape, the motor was froze up 10 years ago, & my wifes father tried to unstick it back then, before he died, so the motor is likely a boat anchor...

I'm leaning towards doing the Jeep 1st, for my wife, then starting the Studi project...any sugested places to learn more about the truck, & places to get parts ???

He'd like to put it back to the original mechanical pump but the bits of one that he has are not usable (mounting lugs broken off & no arm & we can't tell about the diaphram).
The other day a gentleman came into my shop and asked me to help him sell some studebakers and parts. He goes on to tell me he has 105 (yes,105) old studes he wants to sell! Not only that but he has a whole basement full of NOS parts that are still in the box!

He wants me to help him catolog everything and find out what it's all worth. Then he wants to find a single buyer to take the whole lot off his hands. My thought was to hold an auction but he doesn't want the fuss and attention. Which is too bad because it would probably be the biggest event to hit the studebaker community in years! Could you imagine an auction where 105 studes were going to be sold? Not to mention all the parts either.

So this is what I've talked him into for right now. I just started a website called 'Studebaker Heaven'. (www.studebakerheaven.com) On this site I'm going to post pics of all the rigs and parts as I start catologing them. This way everyone gets a chance to see what's up for sell. So please pass this message around for me. I would really hate to see anyone in the Studebaker community miss out on this one.

Howdy Y'all, I have the 1961 Hawk (4 speed model) that I graduated high school with, It has not been tagged since 1971 when I left for Viet Nam. I am now trying to get same on the road again. I has been in my Dads shop inside in West Texas since 1971. He went to South Bend and bought a "new" long block in the early 70's..now the problem I have 3 starters, one of them I pulled off of a engine that came out of our 59 Hawk w/auto trans..I can't get any of these starters to pull up on the bell housing. I measured the hole that is in the automatic bell housing and it is deeper than on the 4 speed bell housing..Dad swears that these 3 starters are the only ones we had..all the same...is there a spacer (maybe 3/8" or 1/4") that goes between the starter and Bell housing or what?? also I have a ton of parts that we stripped off of the 59 if ya know a body in need.. Thanks in advance for any help or direction...Jack

i just got it running last night after allot of work but

it dosent run well, it misses and im not quite sure why?

i took out number one spark plug, turned the engine over by hand untill
i felt compression then matched the up dead center mark on the dampener with the pointer on the timeing chain cover, then rotated the distributor untill the points were just opening makeing sure the vacume advance and the mecanical advance were in there default positions and were not binding up. the points are gaped.020 and the plugs are .025.
i then found out wich hole in the cap was number one by compareing it to the roter, after that i checked the rotation of the engine and the roter so
i could conect the spark plug wires correctley to the fireing order
1-5-3-6-2-4.

the engine has the correct amount of oil a full radiator and good oil pressure and fired up niceley on prime and then ran on its own after
fuel filled the lines i havent done a compression test yet but im sure all
the cylinders are going to be below 105 psi. the fuel is reguler unleaded
i just thought of this after i bought it, should it be somthing else?

i tried to tune the carburator up, the manual says to bump the idle down
to about 7 to 8 mph but i just adjusted it by ear. then it says to screw the
fuel mixture screw in untill the engine leans out and runs rough then back it back out untill the engine "rollls" then back in untill it runs smooth. after that it says to re adjust the idle and then your done. i tried to do all that but i did not mess with the float level or the accelerator pump. the engine
just ran poorer the longer i messed with it and i fouled the plugs so i took them out and cleaned them with some kroll penatrateing oil then re gaped them and tried agan but no luck. i also tried a timeing lite to see were the spark was with the engine running so i could fine tune it but i could not see the marks eaven when they were cleaned. and me turning the distributor, the light i have could be a bit close range or i dont have the right angle or i am not looking at the right spot.

it didnt realy matter at that point because a reading would be so unstable i could not tell if it was because of incorrect fuel mixture or incorrect spark timeing or bolth or somthing compleatley diffrent? like oil foul, wrong gas, low compression or vacume leaks? most likeley none of the above.

i think i need new plugs for starters and some good advice or someone older then 22

thanks
