Hi There,

I own multiple Studebakers, 1929 President, 1951 Starlite Coupe, !951 Business Coupe, and a 1959 1/2 ton Pickup. I also own several Hudsons and frequent the Hudson forum nightly. The Hudson forum gets 10-30 posts per day and this forum hasn't had a post since January, aren't Studebakers worth talking about. Is there anyone out there with anything to say about Studes, no one who needs help or information?
Dear ol' Dad is putting together a '55 Stude and when he started, he kept sounding like it was no big deal..... now as he gets further along, you can hear his excitement building like a little kid leading up to Christmas!

Which leads me to the real meat of the question... I thought for Christmas this year, I'd like to get him a mighty fine Stude jacket but so far all I've found are cheapies. Anyone know where I can find a good high quality jacket that'll let Dad show off just how much he loves his Stude?

Hello all, hope this finds you doing well.

I'm running into a small difficulty in getting my '53 Starlight registered... I've got the "pink slip" along with the last registration from 1963. Problem is, in CA, since the vehicle hasn't been tagged in the last 10 years, it's not in their system, and has to be verified, which I can do by having a police officer come out and match numbers and info from the pink slip with the numbers and info for the car. The "Engine or ID Number" listed on both the pink slip and registration is the number 1029267 I cannot find any number on the car that matches this number. All other info on the paperwork matches... Year, wheelbase, model code, license plate number that was on the car when I acquired it...

I have searched all over the car and can't find a corresponding number... Anyone familiar with this string of numbers and where it might be found?

Many thanks in advance!!!

Hi everyone, My name is Andrew, I currently picked up a 1964 Studebaker Commander with a 289 V8 in it. Not a Ford 289. Studebaker 289 with a Stromberg single barrel carb on it. Now the problem I keep having with it, is that the carb keeps leaking gas out of the bottom on the left side onto the intake manifold. I have fixed the float about two times, and when we did fix it, the car would run perfect for a few days maybe two weeks at the most, then the carb would mess up again.

Does anyone know where I can get a new float or is it something else?

Im not sure what is exactly wrong with it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello all, My name is Jay. Nice to join the forum! I live in South bend Indiana, Home of the Studebaker plant. My grandfather was a master tool & die maker at the plant for 25 years. He passed away in 1995, I was going though the tons boxes of things he left for me and low and behold... he had boxes & boxes of new carb rebuild kits, about 50 Stromberg type W carbs that look like they are new and never ran squirreled away for years! I am just checking to see possibly if there are any swap meets around the Midwest or clubs near Northern Indiana I can get in touch with, or possibly members here near me to talk to. I do not own a Studebaker and like to get rid of these parts to finish my 70 chevelle SS. I am a T-7 in wheelchair due to a accident 19 years ago so my project has been a SLOW one! Sorry if this is the wrong area to post, I am just trying to get info and get these parts to collectors like yourselves and not let them go to waste. Thank you for any info that you can give me! Jay.

Hi everyone,

I'm new on here, mainly because I have a problem, which just keeps on recurring. Recently I renewed all the brake lines, the hoses and put new kits in to the wheel clinders, and the master cylinder. In other words a complete overhaul, I did this because no matter how hard I tried I had air in the system.

Well I went out and after about 15 miles, the pedal got really hard, and the brakes came on. I thought that it was a master cylinder problem, so I had it rebuilt at a shop, I pressure bled it to make sure there were no leaks, and off we went again, and again the same thing happened. So I checked the wheel cylinders thay were fine, but it happened again. I dont know what to do next.

The brake pedal is adjusted so that there is about 3/4 of an inch play in the pedal, and the wheels are adjusted so that the brakes just touch the drums.

I am wondering whether to back offf the brakes a little because it seems to me that they get hot really quickly and build up the presure. So far 3 x mast cyl kits: and 4 wheel cyl kits.

Anyone had this problem?

PS its the only one in the UK, thats another reason to come on here!!

I replaced a very old voltage regulator on my 1966 Datona about four years ago. It quit working and I replaced it. I opened the one I took out and a wire that looked like a fuseable link was burned. The new one worked for one day but then burned out in the same way. Before I feplace it I would like sugestions on what may be causing the failure. Note I recently had a shop replace the main oil seal requireing the engine to be lifted.

I recently installed power steering in my 62 Lark Daytona (out of a 62 parts car). I rebuilt everything and installed. I now have power steering to the left, but not to the right?? I have eliminated the cylinder and the pump as the potential problem and have concluded that the problem is in the valve. Anyone have any ideas as to what might be going on in the valve unit to cause this?
