My thoughts go out to Gilbert & Andrea Dallow, whom own a beautiful '54 JetLiner as well as a couple other Hudsons there in that town.
Hopefully this thread will not add fuel to fire that occured over the week-end regarding KGAP.

Since 99 % of KGAP falls on my shoulders I will take full blame for all the bad services, the lousy communication etc. It has never been our intention to let things get as bad as they have. I have learned alot in the last 5 years and I feel bad that the mistakes I've made have hurt so many people.

In the last 5 months we here at KGAP have made quite a few changes. We have updated our product ordering system, which will result in fewer back orders and back order waiting time. We have updated our order system, this will track orders better and things will ship faster.

I am not writing this to change any ones mind about KGAP, nor am I offering excuses. I am writing this to say, I am 100 % to blame and I am giving it everything I have in restoring KGAP back to where it was when Press and Janet owned KGAP.

I am not asking anyone to take my word for anything, I am say actions speak louder than words.

The only thing I am asking is; if you have a problem please come to us and we will make it right.

Thank you for reading this message.

:(I expect this tread to be deleted by the administrative gods before many have a chance to read it, but I feel a need to say "goodby" to my cyber buddies as best as I can.

I have gotten a lot of good from this site and it is with mixed feelings that I let it go. That being said I cannot continue to be any part of any forum that is led around by an administration like a bull with a ring in his nose.

To me, the act of deleting posts and steering conversation does nothing but stir up controversy, resulting in unsettled debate.

The adminstrator points out that he "owns" the site and can do what he wants, but he doesn't "own" me and I cannot abide by his conditions. He may have the power to direct conversation, but I have the right to go elsewhere.

Big deal, you say, "Who cares", but I will be removing the site from my favorites and no longer continue to contribute.

Good luck, and thank you to all the members who have helped me, but the knowledge that someone is looking over all of us and deciding what we should think and discuss is more than I can take and I will be taking my Terraplane toy to different sand boxes...slim

Thank you for your concern. At least you are taking the time to find out the facts and ask questions. We stopped going on the forum along time ago because people sit behind their computers and say whatever they want whether it's true or not. We even had people trashing us who had never ordered from us.

All I can say is, back in Jan. and Feb we had a computer virus that caused us to lose files, then in March our computer went out completely and we had to buy a new computer. At that time we went on the forum and placed a notice in the WTN asking people to please let us know if there were items that were ordered that were not received. We heard from 5 people. We are going through all our orders dating back to May of 2005, to make sure nothing has been missed. That takes time. In April our home was broke into, among the items stolen was our laptop, this was our backup computer which put things in a bind when our main computer went out . In June we had the video card go out on the new computer, the hard drive worked but we could not see anything on the monitor. We had to take orders and do shipping by hand. We have found that a couple orders did not make into the computer when we received it back. Customers called us and we immediately fixed the problem.

This past year we have had a few supplier problems such as:

1. The company that makes the red grille emblem blanks. The acrylic they could no longer get, therefore it took them over a year to find a compatible product. We now have red grille emblem blanks. This issue was out of our control.

2. Another supplier we placed an order back in 2007 for 100 items that we have paid for, as of today we have received just a few more than half.

3. Calif. is losing 14,000 small business a month, we are lucky to find companies that will do small runs, and the large companies we deal with are struggling also and fit our orders in when it is cost effective for them.

4. One business closed up and took our molds with them.

This is just a few of the issues we have faced just this past year. This does not include, moving in to a new place which took 6 months just to have a livable place, and a place to organize all the rubber, nor does it take into account Dany has a regular job , he leaves the house at 12:30 pm and gets home at 12:30am, This places all of KGAP on myself and our daughters. Sara, paints our grille and trunk emblems, this is a very time comsuming and delicate work. Ashley has quickly learned the product line and has been doing great with answering phones and taking orders. This leaves packaging, shipping, all computer work, picking up product from suppliers, etc. to me. We have tried so very hard in the last 6-8 months to stay on top of phone calls, calling people back and answering email. We were closed from July 24 to Aug 15 due to traveling to and from nationals and conducting inventory. We arrived home on the 8th of Aug. and Dany had to be to work on the 9th. That left little time to unload 2,000 lbs of rubber and a trailer.

We have also had problems calling people back due to:

They leave no phone number and they are not in the roster.

Leave a msg from a cell phone and the msg is so garbled we can't understand it.

Leave no msg at all.

We call them back and we get a busy signal or no msg machine at all.

We call back and leave a msg but we don't hear back from them.

Dany and I will admit we have made our fair share of mistakes, we have not stayed on top of things in the past but we made a vow 6 months ago to turn things around. To better communicate, get orders out faster, etc. We feel except while we were away we have done this. We have already installed a new program to better track and keep track of orders, Ashley makes it a point to check voice mail a couple times a day, along with return those calls. In the last 2 weeks since we have returned from Nationals, we have shipped out close to 200 orders and we have received from suppliers 7-8 thousand dollars worth of inventory which was immediately shipped out to Hudson Members.

We have also had to deal with good upstanding Hudson members not paying for orders in a timely manner, breaking parts and blaming on the product, ordering the wrong item and telling us we sent the wrong thing. . We have not said anything about the bad members to anyone. We are polite and courteous when and all complaints come in whether they are in the right or not. We send out a new part and take the loss with out question.

Alex, thank you again for your concern and interest in KGAP. We are keeping our noses to the grind stone and giving the Hudson community 110% of ourselves.

We are striving to make KGAP better and better everyday.

Thank you
I saw a total of 8 people while ascending and descending the mountain. His name was Alex (I believe his last name was Joyce). He saw my 2009 National T shirt and asked if I owned a Hudson. He bought a 47 PU 3 years ago and is in the process of building a garage to work on his truck.
I cant believe after all these years and just 600 miles away - I dont see any chance of getting to the Nationals in spokane.

My truck literally broke down last week and is back in the shop for ANOTHER injector pump (of course no warranty on the one replaced 2 years ago)

Min. 2k in repairs. Since they had to tear down the intake to do the IP Im having them install new exhaust manifolds I bought over a 1-1/2 ago but couldnt afford to install.

Between the house in foreclosure, back taxes, and now my truck I'm starting to contemplate divesting myself of my Hudson and parts.

I havent touched the Hudson in over a year - dont and wont have extra money for most likely years to come.

I make 42% less than I did 8 years ago (gee have living costs and taxes gone down in that time?) I bought the car 5 years ago ) I dont even know if I can save the house...so working on the car doesnt make any sense to me at all

With all the work to fix up the shop quite honestly walking out to the shop is depressing to me now just knowing I cant afford or am confident enough I can start a project and not have to stop to pack!

I've got lotsa parts I can get rid of even if I keep the car body - twin-h parts - carb parts - suspension, rear axel, a-arms, all rear the wood pieces for a Business Coupe..probably others too!

Anyway - thanks for letting me vent!

Have fun at the Nationals - Rambo and I will be there in spirit
KGAP gives its deepest apologies for not being at its best this past year or so. We have had our problems both personal and economical like most of you, and learning the rubber business has taken time. We have made our fair share of mistakes, the biggest being lack of communication on our part. We have taken steps to rectify this problem. We have also taken steps to help the economic issues by selling off some of our Hudson cars which means we can buy more product resulting in less back orders. We have also moved to a location that is closer to suppliers and work, which gives us more time to dedicate to KGAP.

We have been long time Hudson Club members and we hope to continue helping to keep Hudson cars on the road for many decades to come.

We have taken a long and serious look at KGAP and we are fixing the things that have not worked and we have rededicated ourselves to make KGAP a much better and friendlier company. We thank you for allowing us to serve you and we hope we can serve your Hudson needs in the future.
We appreciate your patience and support.

Hello all. This is Chris, back from the dead.

I'm still gradually working thru issues with my 1948 Hudson Super Six.

At this point the car seems to have trouble going into 2nd and 3rd. I'm not sure if this is a linkage issue or a syncro problem. It does jump out of second when I let up on the gas (that is when I can get it into second in the first place).

I've had problems like this in the past, but playing with the linkage seemed to help. Now I've flushed the tranny (what came out was completely clean), and changed the Hudsonite in the clutch (is that just brake fluid or what?)

Worst case I'm suspecting is I may have to swap this tranny for a rebuilt one, assuming the syncros are out.

Any other tests I should run? Any ideas?

Thanks again for all the help!

Leo was the owner of Utah Noodle Parlor. As a high school student I thought it was the best food money could buy. Leo spent a number of years in "America's Prisoner of War" camp here in Utah. His family lost everything when their southern California farm was taken away. Leo worked nights to put himself through school and opened his noodle parlor in the mid 50's. What he loved most about America were the cars. The BIG cars, and he bought a lot of them over the years. Last count was around 250 mostly Cad's. All from 1954 to 1965. The ones that were perfect went into storage--low miles, clean one owners and pretty much in perfect shape. 25 to 30 were in a field behind his parlor. With inter city changing as it does, a lot of rocks were thrown over the 12 ft high fence. Most in the field were in pretty rough shape. Oh, did I mention that they were all coupes and convertibles... The city condemed the property this week and had all the cars impounded. Lucky for the collectors, the cars in storage were sold off over the past year. My neighbor, one of Utah's finest, took me by to look at two Hudsons in the pack. They were sad and represented the loss of the American icon of the automobiles built in the early 50's..... Nothing here to save...... Ya can't take them with ya----DRIVE THEM TILL YOU DIE AND LET SOMEONE ELSE LOVE THEM.....

So yesterday this guy calls my dad with a Hudson lead. He found a pair of 47 Hudson trucks in western NY for sale, for 2-3K for the pair, not much other information. I called him back for details, apparently he went to look at them this morning. He said they are total junk; no drivetrain, roofs caved in, only very crusty shells left. The owner wants 1400 for the pair and he was hoping to get a nice finders fee for selling them;) Anyway, now he doesn't want to give out the location or the actual owners info, even though he has no interest and the owner is threatening scrap yard if nobody gets them soon ? I don't get it.... Oh well.

Same guy also told me that he pulled the original motor out of an Italia that used to be in that area, and that he saved the block for years before letting it finally go to scrap as well. I forget where that Italia ended up...

Bummer, but I guess you can't save everything, although you wouldn't know it looking at my house:D

My son just got this car a few weeks ago and uncle SAM shipped his off to Iraq. So it is my job to care for her till he's home. I would like to buy an extra set of wheels any type of junk yard wheels will do , so I can take the oringial's off and have them cleaned up and painted for him when he gets back.

The first car show of the season here in Northern Utah is called the "Breakout Breakfast." We all join at a local "chug arama" and have breakfast and look at all the new entries to the show and tour season. Today was the big day and the English Hudson went into the shop on Saturday for interior (anyone got a big checkbook?) so I was left with my 60 ElCamino to check out the scene. Not a Hudson anywere in sight today with about 80 cars to choose from. There were three Durants, a Vele, a Northern and a Star but not a single Hudson to be seen and enjoyed? Go figure.

While there I had a soon to retire-new to the hobby, gentleman ask me the question: "Why should I join a car club? It gave me a moment for pause... Over the years I have been a member of several clubs. I have belonged to the oldest car club in Utah since 1959 (Bonnevills Rod and Custom) that other than put on a great car show each September, does nothing. I have been a member of a Chevy club (VCCA) for 35 plus years and a somewhat new member of the HET (10 years). It was a good thing that the HET Club came into my life because if not; I would have had nothing to tell him. There are the standard reasons: friends, resources, parts sources, research for knowledge and pride of ownership but other than that how do you answer this question?

Our car cruize season started this past ten or so days. Being new to retirement I set a goal of getting out and visiting with the many friends that I have met along the way while working on cars. I am not big on paying money to go to car shows so I decided I would start hitting a few of the local cruize-ins in the local area. In the past ten days I have made it to three. Since my 36 English Hudson is getting an interior and the Martz roadster is in the Cut, Weld and fit process I am driving a brand "X" car. Three shows, three trophies. Today, they dedicated the car show to a good friend, and older gentleman who drove an all original 1922 NASH. It looked like the car just left the set of Grapes of Wrath. He was a cranky old fart that not too many people knew that well but from my experiences I called him a good friend. He passed away last week. I won the best of show trophy that was given in his honor. It is a plaque with he and his car. Sometimes, something as uninportant as a trophy can mean a lot?
