I want to flush out the old fluid from the brake system in my 53 Hornet. I know enough to stay away from the DOT-5 silicone fluid but I wonder what your thoughts may be concerning the DOT 3 & Dot 4 fluids. I see all contain various formulas of glycol but some are synthetic and others are mineral based. Your opinions will be appreciated. Thanks, Joe

I ordered some rubber from them and they gladly took my money, shipped the rubber to me and didn't rap the box very good so some of the rubber came out of the box. I called them and they told me that they would send me my missing parts. I waited for about 3 weeks, still not getting it so I called them. They said that they resent it, but I still don't have it. I have tried several times to get this taken care of but they won't call back or answere the phone. I can't believe that there are people like this in the Hudson Owners Groupe. I don't want this to affect anyone else so I posted it here. I don't want to upset anyone at Kay Gap, just to let others know what type of service I got for $550.00 Thats all.

Hello!
I was thinking about getting a 4speed overdrive gearbox from a 50's hudson and putting it in my hudson six from -39.
I was wondering how much modification is needed to get this to work properly?
The gearbox i was looking at is from a -53 hornet with a 308" engine in, and i have the 212" engine in my car.
The things i think i know is that i will need another (I don't know what they are called in english, but the axle beetwen gearbox and differential, "Kardan" in swedish, and maybe som modifications to the gear shifter linkage. But is the shaft from the gearbox to the engine going to fit? Or may i have to change to the bigger clutch? And what more may i have to change?

Hi, I am new to the forums, and I have a question that I am hoping someone can help with. I purchased a 1952 Hudson Hornet in November, and I am getting it roadworthy. One of the items needing attention is the radio. A friend in town is an antique radio buff, and he got the original 6v radio working for me, replacing the vibrator and all the old capacitors. The radio works, but the reception leaves a lot to be desired. The antenna is good. I would like to find the procedures for "aligning" it, and I don't know where to find the info. Anyone know where I can find this?? I didn't see anything on the HET Club website, but I may have missed it as I am a new member of that club. Thanks again in advance, Bob Halverson

Scanning Hudson documents and manuals

Ok, folks - lets poke that hornets (no pun intended) nest over scanning documents, primarily manuals, and placing same on-line.

It has come to my attention there are some people that say I shouldn't do manuals that are in the club store. And there are pro's and con's to that, as with any issue.

One argument in favor of scanning and putting online says not everybody wants to take the time to download and print an online manual when they can purchase one already printed. Another is that, and this point has been discussed with Aaron Cooper, the manuals are available to anyone, member or not. That's a whole different kettle of fish.

On the other side of the coin there is the argument that the club store will lose sales because the online library is available. It's like going to your local library and checking out a Chilton's manual and copying what you need. How many do this??

I will say in all honesty that some of the manuals I scanned were done before they made it into the club library. Walt Noreem has told me that my manuals are, in some cases, better than what is in the store. I've told him to download mine any time he wishes.

I'd be interested in comments, pro and con.
New Mexico was the 47th State, but by law no stars could be added to the flag (officially) until the 4th of July, 1912. By that time, Arizona had acheived Statehood. So there are 46 star flags and 48 star flags, but no (official) 47 star flags. You may now resume your regularly scheduled activites...

2011 has seen a lot of activity in the Hudson community. It seemed like every day there was a post about a new Hudson resto project.

Those of us either hardy enough - or crazy enough - made the National in Oklahoma City. I went because my bank was crazy enough to float me a personal loan and because it was close enough to Memphis to be feasable.

A joke going around sums up the year - 10 years ago we had Steve Jobs, Bob Hope and Johnny cash. We end 2011 with no jobs, no hope and no cash!!!

However, that said, I've been on this planet (and mabye a few others on those lost weekends when I was young and foolish) for 74 years - I have seen good times, bad times and times in between. I'm here to tell you things will get better - sooner or later. (So says the eternal optimist!!)
