I found these at the Prelinger Archives website.

1. "The Mechanic" -- 1924 short comedy (silent), employing rather standard early 20's humor, with a wannabe Chaplin playing an inept garage mechanic. Exploding tires and oily rags provide most of the chuckles. At one point a white Hudson sedan is besmirched. Nice shots of a period garage with lots of early 20's cars in it. In two parts. http://archive.org/details/AFP-19-OJ_R-2_TheMechanic_A
http://archive.org/details/AFP-19-OJ_R-2_TheMechanic_B

2. "Behind The Scenes", a compilation of gags, flubs and outtakes by the Wilding Picture Productions, from the mid-1930's. Wilding made industrial films, including a lot of promotional films for automobile companies including Hudson. If you look carefully you'll spot several 30's Hudsons. If you've ever seen the short film made by Hudson which was used in their exhibit at the 1933 Chicago Century of Progress exposition -- which starred barely-remembered comedian Billy Repaid -- you'll recognize an outtake from that. Be prepared for a good deal of low humor, including a number of shots of large male animals proving their manhood. This film was obviously intended to be shown to guys sitting around drinking beer, smoking cigars and guffawing.
http://archive.org/details/AFP-2BZ_No9

Has anyone taken a look at some of the cars listed for sale?

From what I see in the photos, quite a few of them are obviously in pristine condition, possibly show quality. Very much under-priced, and most likely 'scams'. You can almost pick them out, just from the preview pictures and prices. Open them up, and you see little other than pictures. No text, no description, no phone numbers, nothing...

Big question - Are any of these car sales verified as being legitimate?

I am tempted to send some inquiries, just to see what their response(s) will be. Would be willing to bet that the response will be something to the effect that they need to sell it quick, and 'recommend' that a security deposit be 'wired' to them...

My guess would be that a considerable portion of these sales are scams.

I've experienced a recent spate of fake eBay scam emails, that you might want to pass along to other car guys. Basically, if you have an item listed on eBay, these guys send out what appears to be the standard "an eBay member has a message for you" which usually says something like "I'm interested in buying the 'item' you have on eBay.. please email me"

The fake eBay email has the standard yellow RESPOND button. when you click on the button, a fake eBay login screen appears, and this is where they collect your user name and password for other nefarious purposes.

I almost got caught up in this yesterday, then just after "logging in" realized I'd been scammed, so immediately opened a new session in eBay and changed both user name and password.

The cure for this is to NEVER press the RESPOND button to a supposed eBay email. Instead, log in to your eBay account and go to the messages section to see if there really is a message there. If not, the email message you received is totally bogus.

Here's an example of a recent one I got. Usually the wording of the message gives it away.

Hey. I recently acquired a 1985 chrysler fifth avenue for a good price that runs great. The only problem I have is its lack of horsepower. I really want a muscle car but my 5th ave only has a 318 cc (I think) v8. Should I just get an actual muscle car and restore that or can I put a bigger engine in my 5th ave to give it more hp. Whats the better option? Also, I am by no means a gearhead but I would really like to learn how to rebuild cars. Whats my best bet? Tutorial videos? Online? I am a college grad and I am not dumb; I just dont have the know how or a dad that is around. Should I enroll at a community college to learn about cars. I really want to know how to work on cars and restore them but I do not know anybody to teach me. Please advise on any and all matters.

I have been in discussions with a gentleman in Europe for the past couple years that is considering selling his late father-in-law's 1934 Hudson 8 Convertible Coupe. The car is complete with an "amateur" restoration started. The pictures of the car show a solid body, no dents, rust or severe damage. All the trim (bumpers; door handles; head, fender & tail lamps; top frame; bird, etc.) seems to be with the car however, I plan to make a visit to verify.

I've noticed that the '34H8CV consistently is ranked in the top two cars "costs aside" @ the Hudson Classic Car forum so, I have to ask... what would a reasonable buyer be willing to pay for a solid and complete '34H8CV needing restoration?

I have the price guides however, also know that so few of these cars change hands that guides show ridiculously low values. I also know (first-hand) what it costs to restore one of these puppies!

Just curious... what would YOU pay??

Disclaimer: I love a well done street rod as much as the next guy however, will do everything in my control to prvent this car from being rodded!

I guess this where I post this..Under "discussions"..?
I have a NOS rocker for the right side of a 51-53 Hornet or Commodore four door sedan. They don't get any nicer than this one. I need one for a 48-49 Commodore. I can cut all the upper retainers off and use this one, but it would be a shame. Anyone want to swap? I'm in Florida so unless y'all live closer, we will both have shipping to contend with.. But the ease of installation would be worth it to both of us.

I originally posted this message in the GENERAL area by mistake (First time posting to the Forum!) SO here goes take 2.........

I want to flush out the old fluid from the brake system in my 53 Hornet. I know enough to stay away from the DOT-5 silicone fluid but I wonder what your thoughts may be concerning the DOT 3 & Dot 4 fluids. I see all contain various formulas of glycol but some are synthetic and others are mineral based. Your opinions will be appreciated. Thanks, Joe

Today everybody is Irish for a day. Parades and celebrations, tho I sometimes wonder what it's all about, green beer and corned beef and cabbage (I'll pass, thank you). Merriment and Irish jokes up the wahzoo. Aye Laddy, 'tis a brae brawny day.

My former spouse was the quintessential Irish cook - Not that she was Irish, you understand, it's just that everything she cooked turned us green!!!!!!

Everybody have a nice day - paint your Hudsons green for the occasion.

I really hope you get this on time. I didn't tell you about my visit to Spain for a short vacation, but unfortunately i was robbed at the hotel where i lodged along with other folks.
My phone was also stolen and the hotel telephone lines were disconnected during the incident. So I have access to only emails.
Please I'm going to need some sort of loan from you for me to relocate to another hotel close to the embassy and also to get another flight ticket.
Western Union transfer is the best option to send money to me. Let me know if you need my details(Full names location) to make the transfer.
