The car was in the Mexican Road Race (orginal division) in 2000-- owned and driven by Bobby Johnson from Unalaska. Stock Suspension and powered by hudson drivetrain except for a 742 chrysler rear end.

Okay, with election time coming up, figured it might be fun to see who the board would have as the next president of the US of A. I have a theory that hudson owners lean towards the conservative side of politics, but it is just a theory. Anyway, here's the low down. I'm gonna list 8 front running candidates, no specific order, just the Democrats as the first 4 and the Republicans as the second 4, to make the bar graph easier to read the results. Poll is anonymous, so no one knows who you vote for. We'll let this run for a week, and see who the voice of the hudson board feels like electing.

Please do not open this up for a thread of political debate. I think it might just be a fun poll. If you don't want to participate, then don't. If you don't like it, stay away. No need to comment.

Not sure if this is the place to post this thread, but since it doesn't really relate to a real hudson.. Here goes nothing...

Several times over the years there have been some sugestions as to what the 55 Hudson might have looked like if Nash hadn't entered the picture. Some appeared in the WTN and some had some pretty good ideas. Some looked worse than any reality.. 55-57 guys please don't take offense.

I thought I would start a thread to see what ideas are out there floating around.

I'll start it off with what I would have liked to see..

A two door station wagon based on the 54 Hollywood (imagine the Nomad) . A Targa type roof band similar to Fords crown Victoria. V8 and Hydramatic. Front Grille with the egg crate design similar to the 55. And a resurected name "Commodore Eight" Wish I had the talent to draw it..

I just had a Wonderful experience that is just solidifying my opinion Ebay is a POS and nearly not worth the time anymore.

I won a wire harness to move my duallies primary injector module to a remote locatation because of heat issues for a set price, free shipping.

I did the "Buy It Now" option and during the checkout process was taken to some off-site custom checkout web. During the custom checkout process the very first screen showed a higher total that included shipping with no options to "de-select"

Since the amount didn't match what I had agreed to pay in the auction I immediately sent a message to the seller telling him of the problem, that the total discrepancy voids the auction and that I had already purchased the harness elsewhere.

I also added that if the seller ever fixed their "custom" checkout site I'd be willing to buy from him in the future.

So the yo-yo has now filed a non-payment dispute against me - here is my response

danwthompson

I've already told you during your 'custom' checkout process the totals where incorrect - you responded that I picked the wrong shipping option this is incorrect I was never given then option to choose. As the total didn't match the amount I had agreed to when I won the auction - this is a violation of ebay rules and I will not pay for your item. I consider this transaction to be null and void - soif you want to ding my reputation because of your mistakes go right ahead, I was prompt - contacted you ASAP and notified you I was not going to pay due to this violation of the auction agreement.

Some of you OLDER Hudsonites may recall seeing this Volkswagen TV commercial back 1969. (Notice something vaguely familiar about the Packard pitch-man?)

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4569123340438433488&q=volkswagen+commercial+1949&total=10&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=2

Of course, when you think about it, VW was beating a dead horse. The ad pokes fun at the overblown, gas-guzzling, chrome-laden barges of 1949 that were the exact opposite of the thrifty, common-sense VW, by pointing out that the marques that represented these sins in 1949 were all defunct 20 years later.

Ironically, it was because Hudson, DeSoto, Studebaker and Packard weren't good enough at selling pizazz that they were discontinued. The winners in the 50's and 60's were the Oldsmobiles, Mercurys and Plymouths, with tailfins, 400-horsepower engines, and tons of chrome. And back in '69 (when the TV "spot" came out) these brands were doing very well, thank you!

I'll start...I have a stock 54 wasp ( although I'm getting ready to do a few Hudson upgrades to her ) and am working on a 49 super six coupe which will be a resto rod.

The coupe will get a 350/400 with a 8"Granada rear end. Will probably be satin black for a while till I decide on a final color...probably a white interior.

New Ideas for the Hudson Club...

I’m annoyed with myself for posting this, because I’m as sick of these threads as most of you are, but here goes.

There has not been one new idea posted on this forum in the past two months.

Every proposed “improvement” for the HET Club posted on this forum has been discussed within the Club leadership and membership…some of them for a several years. There are even committees addressing many of these issues. If you are a member and you want to know what’s going on, have an idea, or you feel like volunteering, you may contact any officer or Director…none of them are hiding in anonymity like some of those posting here; all have full contact information including email addresses published prominently in every issue of the WTN. If you are a non-member, I sincerely invite you to bite me.

To assume that the HET Club is not addressing new ideas or receptive to them is so incredibly arrogant it triggers my gag reflex. Get over yourselves!

Ideas are a dime a dozen. Implementation in a democratic, volunteer, international club is another matter. In addressing improvements, the first issue is always priorities, and the first priority is to maintain the existing benefits the Club offers and to make sure that it is run in a financially sound manner.

The next priorities will be determined by what changes are of most benefit to the most members. First and foremost, your leadership must keep in mind that most for most of us this is a hobby…we’re in it to have fun, to enjoy our cars and to have the pleasure of meeting like-minded people. The hobby releases us from the stresses of work, family, financial pressure and endless hectoring Internet postings like this one.

We have a good Club. It is far from perfect, and everybody knows it. After all, any enterprise run by people, especially volunteer people, is never going to be everything it can be. That’s only a goal to strive for. Ever since Meritt Marks mailed out a few postcards in 1959 asking people if they wanted to form a Club, we’ve been striving to better ourselves. Join us, respect the 50 years of effort that so many people have put in to benefit the rest of us, or buzz off.

I think there has been some unnecessary, counterproductive, and negative posts made lately, that has made me unhappy with a few of the members of this forum, and I am sure me with them.

One of the things I have decided this year, is I am going to make reasonable effort to resolve conflict. I did not take that approach today, and honestly, if you feel you have been wronged, let's get it out there, let's air it out. (specifically, today, to you Alex, and I'm sorry.)

I'm not looking for a bunch of crybaby posts here, I would like to see specific examples if you feel I wronged you, as well as be prepared, if you come here, looking to make a point, I will want the same respect, and same concession from you. I have several posts that I have earmarked as hurtful, and would expect the same response that I am offering you. This is not a heresay thread, if you got a valid issue, let's fix it.

This is my holding out the olive branch, to make amends going into the new year. Please post below, let's try to do something positive with this thread.

If you choose not to mend the bridge, then so be it, I want to have a clear conscious that I made a fair effort to solve some problems.

And if you are on my ignore list, I will read your post, in this thread and give it a careful and thoughtful response. I think this is fair.
Thank you

I've been looking for a particular color/optioned Chevrolet Crew Cab 4x4 Dually for quite some time - as the 1/2 ton 4x4 I've had for several years now just isn't "cutting the mustard" anymore. You can't really haul anything of substance without the headlight pointing to the trees!

And in the shorty there's no room for Rambo.

This morning about 3:00AM ~ I finally found one on CL out of Portland Oregon and drove down to look at it. It was a long day today 12hours + driving but I now have a "new" truck!

It's got some cosmetic problems with some typical Chevrolet paint peeling but I got it for just above wholesale costs and paid cash - no payments

So here's my new "Hudson Hauler" - Rambo has already claimed the backseat, just like the Hudsons!

1998 Chevrolet 4x4 Crew Cab 6.4L Turbo Diesel, AC, PM, PDL, PWD, PB, DUAL BATTERY, TOW PACKAGE, ALARM, CRUISE, TILT, Cassette and CD, alloy wheels.

As editor of the White Triangle News, I stand behind everything in the magazine and my personal contact information is available for all to see. This is true of the hundreds of HET Club volunteers who have given so much to this hobby over nearly 50years. We are willing to stand up and be counted, whether we are right or wrong.

This Forum is a private enterprise not connected with the Club. A small percentage of the 3,600 Club Members Worldwide (<> 200) access it regularly. Since you may post anonymously, the Forum is the ideal vehicle for non-members and bullies to voice their opinions. Whether they like it or not, Members of the HET Club control at least 95% of all the cars, parts, services, expertise and repro items available for fans of Hudson-produced motorcars. Most members are in the hobby to have fun; most of us are willing to help fellow Members freely whenever we can out of the goodness of our hearts. Some Members have small businesses which the rest of us need. Their business practices are their own responsibility. Non-members are lucky if they are not shut out of the process completely, although some can always turn to daddy if they have a problem.

My name is Sam Jackson and my contact information is freely available in every issue of White Triangle News.

The Club's Web access and membership database is maintained by volunteers who give selflessly of their time. If you're one of the anonymous few who choose to stand outside the tent p**ing in rather than joining us in trying to make the hobby better, I can only hope that it blows back in your face.
