Wasp and Hornet PROTECTION?

Protection for you and your home!

If you don't have a gun, here's a more humane way to wreck someone’s evil plans for you.

Did you know this? I didn't. I never really thought of it before. I guess I can get rid of the baseball bat.

Wasp Spray

A friend who is a receptionist in a church in a high risk area was

concerned about someone coming into the office on Monday to rob them

when they were counting the collection. She asked the local police

department about using pepper spray and they recommended to her that

she get a can of wasp spray instead.

The wasp spray, they told her, can shoot up to twenty feet away and is

a lot more accurate, while with the pepper

Spray, they have to get too close to you and could overpower you. The

Wasp spray temporarily blinds an attacker until they get to the

hospital for an antidote. She keeps a can on her desk in the office

And it doesn't attract attention from people like a can of pepper

spray would. She also keeps one nearby at home for home protection.

Thought this was interesting and might be of use.

On the heels of a break in and beating that left an elderly woman in

Toledo dead, self defense experts have a tip that could save

your life.

Val Glinka teaches self-defense to students at

Sylvania Southview High School . For decades, he's suggested putting a

can of wasp and hornet spray near your door or bed.

Glinka says, "This is better than anything I can teach them."

Glinka considers it inexpensive, easy to find, and more effective than

mace or pepper spray. The cans typically shoot 20 to 30 feet; so

if someone tries to break into your home, Glinka says "spray the

culprit in the eyes". It's a tip he's given to students for decades.

It's also one he wants everyone to hear. If you're looking for

protection, Glinka says look to the spray.

"That's going to give you a chance to call the police; maybe get

out."

Maybe even save a life.

Please share this with all the people in your life.

I'm posting this on all forums so I don't miss anyone:

I posted this on the Street Rod forum but thought there might be some interest here. I have talked with our chapter president and if this becomes a go, we'll put it out into our monthly newsletter.

I emailed Ilene Roth widow of Ed "Big Daddy" Roth a few days ago and told her I had posted on our street rod forum that she had a '46 or '47 Hudson pick-up on one of Ed's shirts called "Joker's Wild." Some of the guys on that forum already bought them. Below is what I posted to the Street Rod forum.

I don't know if this should be restricted to selling only to the HET Club members, but personally, I don't think it should. We should do anything if it gets word out about our Club.

Ilene Roth, Ed "Big Daddy" Roth's wife emailed me after I told her I had posted the Jokers Wild t-shirt T-Shirt and wondered if we would like a one-time run of a Roth T-Shirt with the HET Club Logo on the left sleeve. She is really a nice person and when she saw you guys buying shirts, she wanted to know if we wanted the shirts. She uses the shirt sales to help the family out as well as keep Ed's copyrights in the family.

She has made a nice offer and I don't now how many folks would buy one, but I think it would be great. It helps out the Roth family and gives us a personal shirt to boot. Sounds good to me, but any interest out there?

I also asked her if they had another design with a Hudson, Essex, or Terraplane with a stock motor or no motor showing. I'm sure she'll look into it.

Just think how many other clubs out there would have something like this? Our chapter president and I think it could be a fun thing and a piece of history. How many of you out there collected his cards and stickers when you were a kid. I think it's an offer we should take up. I am waiting for her to email me back, but in the meantime, I would like to be able to tell her some rough number of how many t-shirts we would want.

I'm NOT real good at writing up stuff, hope this all made some kind of sense! LOL

Please email me at jayeldridge@cox.net or pm me. I need to know how much interest is out there.

Luckily tonight starts the new season of Sons of Anarchy.
It's not that I want to be an outlaw biker, but there's some good actors and by the end of season one some fresh compelling story lines.
Anyway, I thought I'd see if anyone else is a fan of the show, or what you might think!

Hi, I am getting my 1951 308 engine rebuilt and have come across a snag. Six of the valve spring retainers are flat on the bottom and six are recessed. The parts book shows all twelve to be the same number, so I think that six are wrong. The problem is that when the flat ones are installed, they lift the valve too far into the head, but I have plenty of room to adjust the tappets. When the recessed ones are installed, I have the right spring height, but it looks like the tappet adjusting nut sits up in the recess. Can anyone help me with this. I would be willing to buy a set of twelve if anyone has them. I also need a cam thrust plate for the same.
It's my understanding that most of the cars Hudson made were built per customer order.
While looking at some WWII Hudson stuff, I accidently found this clip. It follows my father's RCAF/RAF Coastal Command squadron from the North Atlantic to the Indian Ocean. The British Navy had placed fuel dumps on Indian Ocean islands, stored in 5-gallon cans. This version of the Catalina had no wheels, so the crews rowed the fuel out to the plane and filled the wing from the top. I have snapshots Dad took of them doing this. In the footage it shows a "bucket brigade." The first guy standing on the tail end of the fuselage is likely my father, who died in '95. (Kinda freaked me out seeing it.) He was overseas flying Cats for 6 years (Canada had a long war), and mustered out in Toronto in February, 1946. I thought some of you might be interested...I can't believe this footage exists and I'd never heard of it before.

I was just searching around E-bay for Franklin Mint products. I dawned on me that most of the scale cars out there are either 2 Doors or convertibles. Many of us certified car nuts in the world own 4 Door cars. Wouldn't it be nice if some of these manufacturers would have the forethought to create 4 Door scale cars for sale. I'd bet they would sell a good number of them. I have a few '51 Hudsons from Franklin mint and would definitely part with some cold hard cash for a '52 4 Door Model. What are your thoughts out there???
The original picture includes my uncle standing at the drivers door, his sales manager behind him at the rear fender. Behind the car are his mechanics, many of whom were with him for all of his years in the car business.

Hanson Motor Co. was in business in Bloomington, IN from 1920-1970. (founded by my Grandfather)

The current picture is of my car and the current residents of the building.

After the Second World War my uncle built this building and obtained the Hudson Dealership. He sold Hudson from 1946 until 1953.

Wow, it had been a few years since I last attended, 5 to be exact. That was the 50th.year celebration. The thrill of top fuel from about 150 feet is unbelievable-just awesome:cool:!!. Then followed by funny car and prostock. We had a great time. I was a little discussed with the bracket cars or I guess they were bracket cars. Some launch with a wheel stand and then go to half throttle or engine miss-fire to create a perfect E-T. They don't go full throttle until about the 150-200 ft.mark. It was boring:confused:- it seems that it takes a whole lot of the guess work out of your run??-They should call it Dial-A-Dragcars:rolleyes:. The only thing the driver needs to do is cut a perfect light, leave the pedal down until your thru the timing lights. For entertainment purposes, this type of racing was boring to me. High-tech can be Great, but sometimes??. I do understand the purpose is to win and all,but human error and racing is what is so exciting to me.

I brought the custom wood dash home today for my 1936 Hudson English Coach. When Coachcraft built this car they used a lot of wood inside around the windows and everything is wood around the dash. The wood is a vener and even with the wear, spliting and seperation it can take your breath away. We have a furnature restoration shop here in town that works wonders with wood. They are reasonable to work with and you get a lot for your buck. I have taken wood to them before and often it does not come out perfect and I have never been disapointed. When I ask if a part is "savable" or should we make a new part the answer always comes back that the older wood will always look better. I have always agreed with them but I wondered if the dash was worth the work. It came out great!!! I did notice around the headlight button that there was a small spot where the vener had chipped away. It is finished and feathered, but if you look at the right place you can see it is recessed.

When is good enough--good enough??
