I grew up in Detroit. Kaiser-Fraser was a really attractive car. True, it was an assembly of purchased parts. The engine was Continental, the rear axle was Spicer or Eaton and the front suspension was Eaton as I remember, but I could be way off.

I toured the factory once in the late '40's and was impressed with the quality of work I observed. The later body and a V-8 engine might have saved the company.

I later worked at Willow Run for Hydramatic about 2 years after the "great Hydramatic fire". The big Graham-Paige presses were stored way down in one end of the plant. The small brass property tags said "Graham-Paige Property #123456" etc.

My son and I got a 1950 Kaiser Deluxe Sedan in early February from an estate. It is in terrible shape, but our hope was to use it as a training tool for my 19 year old to learn about car restoration. Unfortunately, my neighbor called the County and they have ordered me to remove it from the property (inoperable) since it doesn't run and only gave me 30 days.

So, I don't want to call the junk man to have it crushed, but I don't want to put it on ebay since I will have to pay them their $125 fee and I doubt I would like to get the $300 I paid for it in addition.

So, I can take some pictures and post them to see if there is anyone interested in it as a parts car. The car hasn't run in 25 years but has its motor and parts. Two of the vents are broken, there is a ding in the driver's side windshield and the passenger side window is cracked. The whole car is very rusty. The hood has rusted off its hinges and the driver's side quarter panel has been crushed. These are the things I was going to take off to teach my son how to repair.

If all else fails I will post it on ebay, but thought I would try other channels first.

I am in need of a new filter element for the AC oil bath air cleaner in my 1954 Kaiser Manhattan. Ordinarily, this element would simply be cleaned in kerosene and put back in the air cleaner body. HOWEVER: the steel-wool-like stuff in the element is getting pretty rusty and brittle, and rather than risk having this stuff break up and get sucked into the supercharger, which the air reaches before the carburetor, I feel it's time to get a new one. Anybody know where? Please help, folks.
I've got an opportunity to get a "running" car, but the owner does not know the year, or much else about the car, other than his uncle owned it for many years; the uncle died and left it to him 15 years or so ago, and the car has supposedly been stored for around ten years without being moved...He said the car has "occasionally" been started.

All I know currently about the car is that it is a Kaiser, but I do not know the model, year, or options. The only Kaiser I can remember seeing is a Manhattan, but that has been 15 years ago. I have not seen this car yet.

Ideas? What might a "drivable" car in storage that long be worth? I found out about this car while talking to another guy about a pickup, and the car is within a couple of hours of me.

Doubt if I could really luck out and find a Darrin!

Can any of you gentlemen help me identify this wheel? Obviously I know it isn't K/F, but maybe in your experience with other older makes you might have come across one of these. It's mid-thirties, but I can't place any car that had a 5" bolt pattern, how about you? I got four new 6.00x16 tires at a swap meet, they came mounted on these freshly sandblasted and painted wheels. I'm sure that somebody could use them if I knew what they fit. Is anyone here familiar with pre-war Willys on this forum? Is that a possibilty?

Here's the dimensions on these wheels:

16" x 4 1/4" (bead)

3 1/2" Center hole

5 Lug, 5" bolt pattern

10 "spokes"

No hole for an alignment peg

Okay Guys need an opinion. My grilfriend wants this car bad. It's a heap of rusty metal in my opinion but could be done with alot of blood sweat and a bit more blood and extra dollars. bThe floor of this car is gone from rocker to rocker firewall to trunk. Has no title I can't find the vin due to it's either rusted away or just not looking in the right place. I can pick the car up for about $125 has some good parts but no floor. I'll see if I can post the pics.

Any suggestions ?

My buddy bought a pasture full of cars, we're trying to figure out what a bunch of them are. There's a Kaiser Frazer in there. I know the pics aren't too good, I couldn't really get up to the car for the weeds and parts all over the place, but if anyone has any ideas on the year and model, I'd sure appreciate it.

Despite a guarantee from the guy that rebuilt it that it would work like new, the old hydramatic in my 54 Manhattan leaked like crazy from day one and finally died again within 6 months of rebuild. I've had it. Have any of you guys used an adapter to put a Chevy transmission on the Kaiser engine. (There's a company in Minn. that makes one). If so, how well did it work?
