Soon as I open thwe choke after running for several minutes the engine dies. Will start again with the choke closed. This car has a later 2 barrel carb, like possibly '41'47. I had the carburetor rebuilt when I firasst aquired the car and it ran well, just would not go anywhere. I put in a new clutch etc, rebiult fuel pump. replaced the gas line from the tank. I installed new plugs, wires, points, condensor and have checked the timing, that seems okay. I think the carburetor is bad as the car has been sitting nearly four years while I found time to play with it. Any sujjestion? Thanks, Arnie in Nevada.

Needing a break from my daily routine, on April 12 I up came with an excuse/reason to go to Dr Dougs place. It's always a very positive and encouragement to be around him and his staff. Got to see all of the current projects underway and recent purchases. A 49 Broughm, 47 pickup, 50 Pacemaker(43k mile original) and a 46 business coupe, all in very good condition. 2 were trailered and 2 were driven 450 miles from Missouri.
I got to meet Matt Royer(roster fame) and Denny Chilton and visit with Ralph and Cadilac Gene. One of the highlights was seeing the rubber parts Doug has taken on. Denny and Matt were busy catagorizing and photographing every piece. There are tubs and tubs of rubber parts availible and I don't think it's been promoted enough. Doug showed me some of the weatherstrip installed and is excellent quality.
I got to see and hear the Big 47 Commodore 8 that was on Ebay recently and it is beautiful. It's one of those 8's that cannot be heard when running(I'm jealous). It's sitting in a recent addition to Doug's shop along with Terri's perfect 51 Commodore and others.
As busy as Doug is, he spent about 2 hours with me showing me around and answering questions. He's always fun to be around and his excitement about his Hudson career never changes. He also confesses to being blessed to do what he loves doing for a living and I was blessed to spend time with him.
Thanks, Doug,
Kim

Hi All,
Semi-successful weekend working on the Hudson. Have a couple of things under the bonnet that I am not sure what they are/were for. I have attached pictures. I am wondering about the vertical black hose which is attached to the rear firewall. This hose is not currently attached to anything at the bottom of the hose. At the top it's attached to a fitting that seems to go under the dash.
Send item is the black hose (which isn't really a hose just a black rubber sleeve housing a metal rod) laying on the engine block (picture 2). I THINK this hooks into the hole in the tower above which it currently sits, and ti think this whole mechanism is connected to the Weathermaster system and is connected to the lever that you can slide from "cool" to "hot". If that's the case, not sure how it hooks into the tower.
BTW, can anyone point me to a diagram (a la Chiltons or Haynes Manuals) of the engine compartment of a 46 Hudson 8? Since I've had so many things on mine either removed, disconnected, alternately connected, or otherwise "rejiggered" a diagram of how things are supposed to be, with labels of what things are, would be most helpful.

Thanks

Keith

Last two outings was in the rain (Last week we even saw snow). Here a few diehards curize on down to a local business for a free car show. I won a bucket of Coke Cola and a trophy--always a good time to see friends at the first cruize of the year..... Cannot see the "NEW" dash badge from the land of OZ.

I am trying to remove the wiring harness as intact as possible but I’m having a hard time removing the instrument panel where the gauges are. Does anyone know the correct way to remove it? There is very little room for my hands and I don’t want to break or force anything. I have the procedure book for the ’52 but it doesn’t talk about interior.

On the other hand, would it be easier to remove the entire dashboard? Any procedures for that? I’ll have to remove the dashboard anyway to re-do the vinyl top and new paint.

As always, thanks for all your help.
Jairo
