I have 4 sets of Terra headlight buckets all with the same cast mounting to fit on the side of the nosecone. Some have a large thick oval plate and others a thick rectangular plate spot welded on the inside of the bucket. Some have 2 long finger springs for the reflector, and others a small compression spring. Curious what year headlighhts they are. 1937 and ?. Also the battery holder is a work of art. Must have been very expensive to make. Much larger than it needed to be. Was there something else that fitted in the end of the holder? There seems to be a gap for something. Thanks, Barry

Hello Hudson Experts,

i have some questions about a pretty shaped 1947 Hudson Pickup Truck, i have looked on last weekend. Maybe i'll buy it and bring it back on the road. It wasn't ready for a little test drive, because the breaks where out of order, but the engine runs quite good...

I think, that it has the same engine as the normal super sixes, right? What about the transmission and rear axle (differential), has it the same transformation of speed as the passenger cars?

Where the Hudsons of that period (before stepdown) much slower to drive compared to my 1952 Pacemaker or are the differences not soooo big?

Greets from Germany

Hudsonly

Tom

Hello everyone and thank you for allowing me to post as a new user on this site. Long story as short as possible:
My elderly mother-in-law was widowed by her second husband and he left her a 1951 Hudson Hornet 4 door Twin H.
It is a TX car and is 1500 miles from where I am so I am relying on barely passable pictures- which I will load.
Also, the information she has is limited to this:

Bought "some" 5 years ago..from old man in rural Texas town-
Can't remember how much they paid..
Interior is super nice.."no wear n tear whatsoever"
Running well and driven up to 8 months ago-not starting now
That's about all she could tell me. Oh yes, and I got her to find the vin# on the reg. 130709.

I am hoping to get as much "satellite" information that I can to help her out. I've done lots of research on the car and it's prominent history but I'm having problems finding "sold" price history.
I am fully aware that trying to appraise a vehicle remotely is nearly impossible but any ideas you're willing to throw out there would be very much appreciated. Here are the photos she sent me. I could not get here to have it cleaned so as you can see, it's dusty. Thanks very much in advance, Christine

***I noticed the front grill is very different from the ones I've seen.,,oh o!

I finally got the top stack restored and put together on the car. I got the 6volt two direction pump ,2 rams , and control switch and wiring from Hydro-Electric. I found a light gray top from Aro2000 (out of new york if I remember correctly). My top guy says he hopes to install it this coming week.

I got a new sony handycam digital movie camera recently and wanted to try it out. I decided to try taking a movie of the top stack operation. I uploaded the movie to photobucket because it was way to large to email. I sent it to Fred Connors about a week ago. I got to thinking some of you guys might like to see it too. When I uploaded it to Photobucket the video was longer than it is now. Apparently they must edit what you put on their site. Anyway here is a link to the video.
Just posting a feeeler here to gauge if there would be any interest in recast 1932 /33 Terraplane 6&8 water pumps. I know of at least one guy that needs one, and they seem to be impossible to find. I have a OE pump and would use it for the template. This could go either way, a finished pump or just housing and impeller castings.

If you may be interested, please reply and provide a general idea of what you may be willing to pay? Initial quotes were over $1000.00 for a single unit, which I feel is way too high and most people would not pay (myself included). I am hoping that maybe interest in 10 or so could get the price down and we could get some spares in circulation.
There is a mint instrument panel, good tail light housings, sidemount covers, front horns, good steering wheel etc.
Mechanical plans for the car include stepdown brakes, a 5 speed gearbox and a better ratio rear end, ideally I’d like the engine to be doing around 2000RPM at 60mph.

The first photo show the H8 arriving, it almost looks like a driver but alas its just been cobbled together for transport purposes.
Hi Guys,
You may remember that recently Lee Odell gave us some information about Oil Extreme. Oil Extreme is an oil or additive that reduces wear on our engines. The testing information was what Lee had posted. Well, I looked up the company and last Saturday I sent the company a message with several questions. I received a response on Sunday from George French the owner, very impressive that the owner would respond on a Sunday. I have included below some of the information that George gave me. There are two (2) email messages from Mr. French.

Dear Marvin,

Yes, our Calcium Petroleum Sulfonate technology which is found in our Oil Extreme "Better than Synthetic" Motor Oil, and our Oil Extreme Concentrate Additive, works especially well in older cars. In fact the Rolls Royce Club of England recommends to its members that they use it in their Vintage Rolls Royce Engines.

One of the things why they recommend it is because in vintage engines the cars are not driven every day, so they usually don't get hot enough to burn off condensation in an engine, so the water and acid from normal combustion don't have a chance to burn off, and the acid and water sit in the crankcase and cause corrosion.

However, with our extremely high TBN of 20, this helps to neutralize the acid, as well as cutting friction and wear while running.

As far as which product you should buy, I suggest you start with our Concentrate. After you see the difference in engine performance, you might like to buy our complete oil with our technology already in it.

I would suggest you buy the 16 ounce bottle as you will want to put some in the transmission as well as the rear end, and the radiator, which will keep your water pump bearing from going out.

Warmest Regards,
George

Dear Marvin

The first time you use it, put 2 ounces of Concentrate per quart of engine oil.

Change oil at your regular oil change interval, then use just one ounce per quart, and at least double the drain interval.

Put 2 ounces per quart of transmission fluid in a std shift, and just 1 ounces per quart in an automatic trans.

Put two ounces per quart in the rear end, and just 2 ounces period in the radiator.

Thanks for the order.

It just so happens my dad bought a terra plane when I was a little boy. As I remember all those years ago, it had a
red hood ornament.

Warmest Regards
George

Hello I need to buy 2-3 sets of the rubber bump stops for the upper and lower control arms. These were part #'s 202 & 203 in the old KGap catalog. I sent a message to Dany Spring, but no response ......not holding my breath on this. Is there any other source? I checked Metro but none of their universal bump stops look correct, especially the flat topped upper control arm bump stops. Thank You in advance, Kenneth
