2011 ZL1 Camaro – The Great Camaro Legend Has Retu

While out reading about the 2011 Camaro, I came a cross some great news, there will be a 2011 ZL1 Camaro. I though that the release of the 2011 Z28 Camaro could not be beat, but it would seem that I have been proven wrong.

This was news that I never expected to hear, you just can't possibly know how this makes me feel. We are talking about the release of a true Camaro legend, the Zl1 Camaro is not to be taken lightly. The 2011 ZL1 Camaro is a 750 HP supercharged beast.

This is most undoubtedly a super cobra killer, I don't think that a car built short of the ZR1 Corvette will even come close. Once again I salute the general, and every muscle car freak on the earth should do the same thing.

The feature include a redesigned SLP front fascia with heritage-style grille/bowtie emblem and carbon fiber-finish splitter. ZL1® fender and rear decklid badges, SLP forged light-weight wheels, Michelin Sport PS2 tires, and Brembo GT front and rear brakes.

*Redesigned SLP front fascia with heritage-style grille/bowtie emblem and carbon fiber-finish splitter.
*ZL1® fender and rear decklid badges.
*SLP forged light-weight wheels, Michelin Sport PS2 tires, and Brembo GT front and rear brakes.
*Rear 1/4 panel gill insert graphics.
*SLP TVS 2300 Supercharger in Red with 10 PSI boost.
*SLP all carbon fiber hood with functional scoop.
*Carbon fiber-finish dashboard trim, steering wheel trim, and center console accents.
*Katzkin® leather interior trim package (w/cloth Hounds Tooth shown) and ZL1 embroidered headrests.
*SLP short-throw shifter with leather-wrapped ZL® shift knob.
*High-lip rear spoiler with carbon fiber-finish.
*SLP carbon fiber-finish rear diffuser with integrated exhaust outlets and polished aluminum tips.

This is not where the fun stops, the 2011 ZL1 Camaro has an all aluminum 7.0 liter engine stuffed between the front fenders. For those of you who o don't know, or care to learn a 7.0 liter is 427 CID, exactly what the original ZL1 Camaro had in it.

The 2011 ZL1 Camaro comes with an estimated top speed of 205 MPH, running 10 pounds of boost from a SLP TVS 2300 supercharger. This car sounds like tons of fun for those who it doesn't scare to death, if you have a weak heart the 2011 ZL1 Camaro may not be your best choice.

This car is just stuffed with high performance goodies for the true muscle car freaks. You just can't ask for a better Camaro to be built, but it does came at a premium price of about $20,000 more then the 2011 Z28 Camaro.

It really is a great deal considering all of the goodies that the 2011 ZL1 Camaro comes with. If you were to do it all separately you would easily spend another $10,000 over the price it will cost here. There is no doubt that this is an ultra cool car that every Camaro freak should want.

You know that I am a huge Camaro freak, and this is the best news that I have heard since I heard that Chevrolet was going to release the 2011 Z28 Camaro. There is nothing to start my blood pumping like the release of such a cool car as the 2011 ZL1 Camaro.

My search is for either plans to convert a generator to be a starter-generator or find out if there are starter-generators that exist that would crank a Hudson (or any engine) 6 or 8 cylinder engine via the generator belt drive. Porsche has a stop/start system, but, I do not know anything about how it works. It would be so much fun to have a silent start again. My starter is in need of repair and thus now would be a great time to lose the 20+ pounds of the starter and have a smooth and quiet start up of the engine.

I did my springtime maintenance yesterday including a bottle of dry-gas to clean up any water lurking in the bottom of the tank. I add a couple gallons of gas with the dry-gas to mix it in. I noticed that the pump at the gas station has a big sticker that says "10% ethanol". I think dry-gas is primarily alcohol. Do we even need to add it anymore? For the two bucks it costs I can get two quarts of gasoline! What do you all think?
They were the firs Hudson F-Head engines, the next version of which was the Greater Super Sixes of '27-29. They won all sorts of competition events in their day against bigger and stronger cars because they were small and light. Now granted their box styling left something to be desired as they aged but it is certainly part of their appeal today in antiquity.

Took my 1949 Hudson Commodore from Flippin, AR to Doug Wildrick in Shelbyville, IN. Won't bore you with details of the road trip, only will say you can't trust Garmin - put me in a dead end small gravel rutted road between two corn fields. Tought to turn around a 1 ton pick-up long bed and a car hauler trailer in a muddy field!

Very IMPRESSED with Doug Widrick and his shop! He was doing a walk around the car and he started to adjust my perfectly adjusted carburetor ( guess it wasn't so perfectly adjusted after all! ). He fixed the sqeek that has been annoying me for 8 years in about 2 minutes. He also found a head gasket leak that I absolutely could not see. He will be restoring my clutch ( which has been chattering for at least 8 years ), fix my transmisson that pops out of 2nd gear ( he said he already knows what is worn out ) and making my OD unit work without my "cheater switch". He already fixed my door handles. I had to slam the door to get it to latch. It now latches with very little pressure.

More Hudsons to look at at Doug's place than I could count! Some really nice Hudsons, Terraplanes, Essex.

Hopefully, Doug's dad will be able to re-wood grain my dash.

It was really nice to find someone as knowledgeable as Doug on Hudsons. It was worth the trip in what I learned in a hour at his place.

I am selling my 1949 Super Six on EBAY. The listing should appear in the next few hours. If any of you folks are interested in seeing the car I live in Columbia, Maryland. You can reach me at 410-707-0822.

Here is my description of the car and everything I have done on the car in the last few years:

I am selling my 1949 Super Six Hudson. I have owned the car for about 2.5 years. The speedometer shows 58,000 miles and I believe that may be the original mileage. After looking at the paperwork that came with the car, I appear to be the third owner.

I have the original owner’s manual and the completed service policy. The car was a Pennsylvania car its entire life. The car has no rust issues. The car was repainted its original two-tone gray within the last ten years. The interior was redone in gray cloth with black carpet. I added four seat belts after I purchased the car. The car is a standard transmission with no overdrive and has the L-head six cylinder engine rated at 121 horsepower. The car has working directional lights, radio and heater.

Here are the things I have done to the car since purchase: replaced the complete clutch, flywheel and starter; rebuilt speedometer and replaced cable; rebuilt fuel pump and carburetor; replaced voltage regulator and battery; rebuilt and refurbished radio; complete new wiring harness (6 volt); rebuilt heater control valves and installed new heater fan motor; rebuilt brakes and added rebuilt master cylinder; converted distributor to solid state (Petronix kit); added hidden security “kill switch”; added amber factory fog lamps
The only item not working on the car is the clock. The original chrome needs to be replated in the next few years but has no corrosion at this time. There is some minor pitting on the exterior door handles and a few other places.
The car runs great! I store the car during winter months and wait until all winter salt and chemicals are off the road before driving in the spring. I drive the car as much as I can during good weather. The Hudson is my car of choice for making grocery runs because of its enormous backseat.

I have repaired every issue I found on the car since purchase. The car is fully road ready and can be driven with confidence. If you live in the Maryland area I encourage you to come see the car in person. The car is not a show car but is in wonderful condition for a 60 plus year old car. If you want to find out more about Hudsons, I recommend you go to the Hudson-Essex-Terraplane (HET) Club website at www.HETCLUB.org and take a look at the information available on these wonderful cars. Parts support for the Hudson has not been a big issue. Many of the key vendors for parts are also HET Club members and are a wonderful group of people always eager to share their knowledge with another Hudson owner.

I am asking $12,500 for the car.

Thanks,

I have not been able to find any good pics, esp of the back seats, to guide my resto of the interior. Here is my problem. I wish to cover the seats in vinyl trim with pleated cloth inserts in a similar pattern to that offered by Hudson. My only back seat pics have the arm rest down, so I cannot see if the arm rest had the vertical pleats as well. My questions are:
Was the arm rest pleated?
How wide is the unpleated vinyl on the rear bench seat and rear seat back? (the pleated cloth plus unpleated vinyl would account for full height of seat back or full depth of rear bench seat)
how wide is the unpleated vinyl on the front bench and seat back?

any pics of such stepdowns with original upholstery utilizing these materials would be greatly appreciated by my upholsterer.

As a benefit to the club, I will ask the upholsterer to make patterns for use by other club members.

thanks in advance,
