I recently picked up a rear for my 74 bird, it is about 1/2" to 1" shorter backing plate to backing plate than my current rear and the mounting perches are just that, perches, not like the current stock perch and plate assembly (although they look to be lined up the same when the rears are centered). Is this a camaro rear and will it fit. Second Once out I wanted to replace the leaf springs and I have encountered a problem, I can't remove the front bolt on the springs (there is no way to slide the bolt out), I don't even know how they got them in unless you have to remove the bracket that holds the front of the spring, please advise. thanks Jim

The column seems to be a maroon while the dash wheel and side panels are the more orange roman red. I orderd kick panels and rear deck cardboard and they came in the darker red. The spear on the side was painted red but it is more of a red red than orange red.

Greetings!!

I am posting this for my friend Ross Kimmel with the Maryland DNR. They need a mid-20's Chevy touring car to mock up for the event below. I have a period picture I can email if you are interested in helping out:

November 4 & 5, 2005, the Maryland Forestry Association is having its annual meeting at the Rocky Gap Lodge at Rocky Gap State Park, which is on I-68 about ten miles east of Cumberland. This will be the kick off event for the 2006 forest and park centennial. They are going to have a Theodore Roosevelt impersonator, a Gifford Pincho impersonator, and other appropriate things. A volunteer is supposed to have a ca. 1950 fire truck with hose reel, etc. there and we would like to replicate an existing image of one of the first Maryland State Forest Fire fighting vehicles which was a mid-20's Chevy touring car. If someone can supply the vehicle and period costume, we can supply the Indian cans, backfire torch, rakes, etc., we can replicate the picture. I can't post the picture here but can email it to you upon request.

We can possibly assist with expenses to and from the event.

Please contact Ross Kimmel at the email address below:
I also took a few measurements and it seems to me that they have exactly the same frame and even after all this some people still insist the EL Camino is longer.
Hi there !

I am a french newbie in this forum and US classic cars enthusiast (69' Mercury Monterey Station-wagon, and a 93' Buick Park Avenue as daily-driver)

I found a few days ago the very car of my dreams, as a 38' Buick 90L !

I can't stop loving its looooong wheelbase and its loooooong 320 ci straight 8 and its wonderful body (yes, i am just talking about a car )

As a good ol'american iron made car, there are just a few rust stains (rear door, and trunk door) that need sheet metal working.

Its motor is known to run, but i did not drive it myself, because of the loss of the electric starter.

The upholstery also needs to be restored.

In fact, i will offer this car a full frame-off restoration...

What's the best price i could pay for such a car ?

The seller asks $12,000 (€9,900) for it, do you think he's a reasonable guy ?

For information, prices are about the same on both sides of the atlantic ocean...

Thank very much for your help !!!

Hi guys,

Perhaps one of you can give me a little assistance - I have a buddy that wants to swap out the 2.8 in his 1985 blazer(S-10) for a 1985 305V-8,

So is that a major chore?

Will a 305 bolt up to the existing tranny?

Is there a kit out there for this job?

Or should I tell him he's dreamin'?

Thanks!

1953 Oldsmobile

I saw a car today that I'm interested in purchasing. The FOR SALE sign says it's a 1953, and the model (I believe) is Ninety Eight (as that's what the chrome appliance on the back of the front seat says).

It appears to be in decent shape and is priced so that it might be a good project. I hope to take a much closer look at the car later this afternoon or evening. My question is what should I look for to make sure this car is worth purchasing? Are there any areas to look at for telltale signs of abuse or structural issues? Any idea what something like this is really worth (ranged from a hulk to a nicely frame-on restored daily driver)?

I've google searched and found nothing about this year and model car aside from pictures and general descriptions. Are there any websites I can look at that would give me dimensions and that sort of thing? I need to know whether or not it will fit in my garage.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have a 1977 Camaro that has been in storage for 12 years. It has sat as it is during this time. It ran great before I tucked it away. I'm now ready to get it running again and was wondering if anyone could direct me in the best way to get started in the process of starting my car without damaging the motor or drivetrain.

I'd appreciate any information you have including your own experience or links on the Web.
Thanks,
