Hey Guys, I am new to this forum and throught I would try to contribute. If anyone is looking for reapir manuals, owner manuals or service manuals for virtually any type of car, there is a FREE ebook at the address below. I asked him could I download and share it, but he said he prefers to have people come to the website. The site itself isn't the best, Sometimes there are annoying ads and surveys. The ebook is only a couple of pages, but it gives a list of places online where you can find almost any service and repair manuals, even for very old models and trucks. I would highly recommend to download it and keep it on your computer.

I have aquired a 1951 mercury and it is in need of some body panels like floor front rear and trunk, rockers, rear quarters the usual after a few years in the yard. I am having a tough time finding any companies that reproduce 51 mercury body parts it seems to stop at 50. Am I out of luck or does anyone out there now of any company that has started producing panels for this year mercury. I have looked on line and everything seems to take me to a ford and thats it. Unless these specific panels can be interchangeable but I doubt. I could be wrong. any help would be greatly appriciated by anyone. Thanks

I purchased a 37 Ford Pickup with a newer V8 Flathead. I was told it is a 1953. I know it is newer because the distributor is in the front. I have searched all the Flathead sites to try and figure it out but can't. On the heads it has EAB and on the other head it has EAB D D102. On the passenger side of the motors bell housing on the back of the engine I found E1221. The engine is RED. I checked the http://flatheaddrag.com/birthday.html site and where they say to look (intake gasket face), all I see is an E. Can't find any other numbers on the block. Anyone have any suggestions on what year this is and what model motor? Also is there any other locations to look or reference sites. Sorry just got the truck and this is my first Flathead AWESOME!!

Hello everyone. As you can tell I am new here.

I may have an opportunity to aquire what I believe is a 1966 Fairlane 500. I believe it to be a 66 because I am fairly certain that it has drum brakes. This particular car has been sitting for quite some time and will need a complete retoration. I personaly do not posess the means or the patience nessesary for such a project, I am only trying to save a wonderful classic from the scrap crusher. Upon my initial inspection, I found that the hood was missing. Other than that, all sheet metal seems to be straight and rust free. It seems as though the headlights, taillights, all glass and emblems are still intact. The front windows were rolled down so the interior is completely shot.

My questions are as follows.

Is this car worth saving? Will I be able to find someone interested in restoring the car?

Was the Fairlane ever available with a 351 engine? There are emblems on the front fenders that say 351. All my research thus far does not show that Fairlanes were ever offered with a 351.

Would these emblems be factory installed or installed by a previous owner?

I would appreciate any help given.

Problem is that when I start it it has a rough idle, when I shift from Park or Neutral to any other moving gear the entire engine bogs down, the idle drops and the car shakes tremendously. I have searched and searched for different info regarding new upholstery for the interior, what bumpers and other items can be interchanged with other cars of the same era and have been coming up blank. I am not too computer saavy (cant find much doing searches), and it seems like my car is sort of a rare bird. I really would like to chew the fat with anyone that may have experiance with these cars so I can get some input on how to resto her correctly. The car starts fine and idles in Park and Neutral but when I shift into Revers Dr or Dlo the entire car shakes, the idle drops and the car acts like it wants to die. The fluid levels were fine. I have pulled the tranni and found that the Torque Converter(which has the flywheel bolted onto it) has somehow managed to travel around inside of the Bell housing. There is about a 2.5 inch long section of the on the bottom collar of the bell housing that has been scarred by the teeth of the flywheel, it is over 1.5 inches wide(basicly the entire depth of the collar on the bell housing.) I can not see why the torque convertor would be able to do this damage or move for that matter.
I need some advice.

I am about to purchase from a family member a 1952 Ford Crestline 2 door hardtop. The car was sold new in Atlanta and my uncle is the second owner. It has been in my uncle's basement since 1982. Has 47,560 original miles. It is in outstanding unrestored condition. Paint, chrome, etc are all perfect. Never had body work. Black bottom with white top. No rust. Original flathead V8 runs great. 3 speed with overdrive. I'm frankly amazed by the condition of the car.

I know this car is valuable but I'm not a collector and have no idea what it could reasonably be worth. Does anyone have an opinion as to the price range a car like this could be worth? Thanks for any comments, Howard

I want to retain stock appearance but run a 302 w/c4. previous owner swtripped flathead and is now frozen. I mentioned stock look but do want to lower about 2" frt and rear. chasis is in real good condition and want keep as much as possible. I've checked JAMCO site. great stuff, but wonder if there maybe a less expensive source? I guess dropped spindles would be the way to go, but kined of rich. Has anyone used the dropped coils, without geometry problems? JAMCO STATES A UPPER A-ARM MOUNT, when using the shorter springs. Just how does that work? Also, a power brake convertion. Could I use aunit from a Pick & Pull? If so from which vehicle? I don't know if disc's will be necessary but if I would go that route, would units clear stock steel wheels? Now to body parts. I have removed most of the stainless. A few things left. How to remove the driprail stainlees and stainless around top of windshield and each side next to vent window? I will be changing all weatherstripping. Which vender has best quality? I have MAC 7 CARPENTER catalogs. Windshield has abit of haze from worn wipers. Does anything really work to remove it? One more thing. I've been told that rear springs began to sag prematurely. This car is equiped with airshocks. Would this be an indicatoin that the springs have become weak? I also had a rough time removing the rear wheels, tight to wheelwell lip. If I use lowering blocks in the rear this will become a major problem!! I guess I could disassemble the rear suspension some. NOTE; I am building this car for my wife. She always wanted a 50's hardtop. GOTTA MAKE IT SAFE....

Howdy. I have a 1978 Ford LTD 2 with 40,000 original miles, one owner (still owns it) and I don't have a clue how to price it and sell it. I know according to book value it's probably not woth much but I don't want to give it away. It's been garaged and it looks like brand new. Everything is all original. It's my dad's and he's 86 years old and doesn't drive it anymore. Any ideas?

Thanks for looking,

I recently bought a 66 4-door fairlane.

some general specifics: Sat for 20 years in garage, 6 outside in Riverside, CA

Has 289 V8 2 barrel carb

Has C-4 Automatic Transmission

Has Factory A/C

Has newly repainted and restored rims because it had four flats and I had to fix them. That was costly and has me worried.

Has I don't know what else. I'll find out when I get it out of Corona, With no wheels that's hard.

Has amazingly preserved interior, how long should rubber last in this car? How difficult should flushing bad liquids from this car be?

How much do I need to do before this thing can roll down El Paseo in Palm Desert & not be kicked off for breaking down? (maybe for comparison I'll say Bel Air in L.A., Another place I may actually go- not because I'm rich but because I've got relatives to live up to. Working on that.)

I already know about flushing the gas tank, what else needs repair/replace? I want to do as little as possible to get it running and work from there as I drive it. I intend to make this car perfect eventually but drivability is first.

Any suggestions?

-Thanks, Justin

I have a 1950 Ford F3 3/4 ton with a Flathead V8 with 90,000 m. It has been siting for 20 years and it has very low compression. Only 30 pounds in all cylinders. Cam shaft timing is ok, I put oil in the cylinder and compression stayed the same.
I cleaned the valves and it is still low. What else could I do?
