I was recently helping to clean out a foreclosed home and as I was cleaning the garage there I noticed this gem wrapped in a plastic bag in the wall. I unwrapped it to find an old classic ashtray thats in like new condition. Problem is I have searched the net for any info on the part number and can find none....I am curious if this is a prototype that has never been used as it says sample # on it as well as For production Approval on the back sticker.
Any help you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated. I don't know for what make or model this is for either so I am looking for help all the way around. Once again thanks for your time and effort!

Greetings!

I have a 1954 ford customline with about 50% original paint .. car only has about 31,000 miles and has been garage its whole life, so the paint is real nice. Even the replacement paint on a few of the panels is original lacquer style (was done in the early 80's).

So my question - I'd love to protect the paint - but can non-clear coated paint be waxed ? If so, by what?

Thanks in advance guys!

It was found in my friends Fathers garage after he passed.
It was in a box marked Ford parts. Knowing how his Father was we are pretty sure it's for a Ford, probably an industrial application, maybe even a tractor? Although his Father never restored any tractors that we know of.
It's an AC fuel pump (#855708 stamped inside glass bowl housing)we can't find any other information anywhere about it. What it went to or a date so figured we would come to the experts.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Hello!!

I recently got the complete overhaul kit including a converter for my C6 auto-transmission from Summit and installed it in my car with a mechanic friend. Neither of us have any experience with auto trannies but all went smoothly just the same.

Now, the problem is that I am not at all satisfied with the way the car behaves now: the upshifts are ok and not jerky, however, the transmission seems to waste a lot of time (well, milliseconds...) slipping or at least not doing much work. For instance, when starting from a full stop the cars does not move the instant I start pressing (gradually) the gas...in fact there are several moments or some travel of the pedal before any action takes place.

Also when coming to a halt after driving at some speed, the tranny seems to take too long in coming back to low again.

A new fault that just commenced is that in reverse the car will not move smoothly now but will suddenly zoom back in a jerky way (chirping tires and all).

My "BIG" question is what can be wrong? Some tell me that I should replace the modulator, but we did already, so what else could it be?

I should add that there is no local shop that will take care of my beast, they are all seemingly busy making money on modern auto-boxes....so I need help!!

Any clues, possible steps to take, possibly troubleshooting tips, etc???

Thanks for any help!

I have a 1953 Ford F-600 cab&chassis with the 239 Flathead. It ran when parked 11 years ago, but naturally, it won't even try now. I haven't touched it at all, but I am planning to start work soon. Any tips on how to get it running? As far as I know, it was filled with antifreeze 11 years ago, so the engine shouldn't have frozen at all (the worst winter we had was in 2004, so its only been through one really bad winter). This truck was purchased by my father in 1998, and parked in 1999. He was going to rebuild it, but he's gone now. Its a big deal for me to rebuild it. So, any tips or help would be really useful.

The wife wanted the car gone so dad basically gave it to us. Its still a work in progress but from what we can tell for someone who wants to do the work it will be a great car. Has 2 engines, the extra is to help rebuild the other one. The seats although not bolted in are inside the car and seem in good condition, and the body is primered but in good condition. Has good tires on it, and all the parts are with it. Im for sure not planning to keep it, but I know it has value and wonder if anyone here has a clue how to find that value out??

I have always liked the 57 Fairlane and am looking at getting one for my next project. I have searched them as much as possible through ebay and auto trader classic to get a better look and have realized the 57 fairlane coupe doesnt have the factory built in flat wheel housing side skirts...it has an actually "round" rear wheel opening. On that search I found what was listed as 57 Ford custom 300, which had the same rear whell opening but the car seemed shorter and the fins, instead of curving directly behind the doors, were a straight line out the back like the 62-63 fairlane. So my question is what is the difference in the two, was the custom 300 I saw a option or was it a completely different car? Any help would be great...THANKS

my 55 ford has a 302 in it, everything is new and ran great for 800 miles, now when i drive, after 5 miles the engine stalls on me, it doesnt seem like a carb problem because after a couple re-start and stalls it doesnt want to start until after it sits a while, the battery/starter/alternator are also all new and ive never had this issue before either- i cant figure it out, it always starts fine and drives then, then after 5 miles the engine quits on me- john

Hi guys. I have a 1964 Ford Fairlane. I have a key for the starter, and one for the trunk. Neither key will lock or unlock either of the two doors on the car. Can a locksmith make a key for the doors or is the trunk key supposed to work there also? Do I have to replace the door locks?
Thanks, Donald.

Hi guys.I am bringing a Fairlane back to life that has been sitting in my mom's garage for about 5 years. I am sure I will have a few more questions before I am done. But the tank has old gasoline that has been sitting for about 5 years, the last time the car was run. I plan to totally clean out the entire fuel system. But one question I have is when I empty and drop the tank, what do I use to clean out the inside to remove the varnish buildup that may be in there? I don't want that stuff coming loose after I have cleaned and reassembled the whole system. Thanks, Donald.
