I am looking at a 1935 Dodge coupe, It has a older restoration on it but looks great. It has a 327/350 drive train with i believe an 8 3/4 dodge rear end. The interior is in nice shape, it has black lacquer enamel paint (i believe, I know its not a basecoat clearcoat job) the car is nice and straight, a very slick car. I am having a hard time figuring out what the car is worth. It has been sitting in a garage for several years, id say new battery, some new gas and a half an hours tinkering and it would run and drive fine, it was running fine when parked. I currently do not have any pictures of the car. If anyone could give me some ball park figures i would really appreciate it, thank you in advance.

I have a 1950 Dodge Coronet Flathead 6, with a gyromatic transmission. Have had the car running, and runs like a top, however the last time we drove it the same, except that after we backed it into the garage, and went to start it up a couple of hours later, it seemed to turn over faster than before. The crank turns withthe starter, but fails to start. It appears to have lost compression? I can turn the crank by hand, and can hear a chain sound. I didn't hear sounds of any kind when shutting the car off. Does anyone have any ideas? We have the shop manual for it, but it doesn't seem to cover this.

I'm in a bit of a spot I guess. I have an 89 T5 five speed to put on my 38 Dodge RC truck bell housing that attaches directly to the frame with its “wings”. My T5's mounting bolts go a bit past the flat face on the bell housing. The T5 is quite wide. I've tried to read as much as I can find about swapping this tranny, but none has gotten real technical on how to center it, how to make an adaptor, ETC. There is a fantastic blog out there from Don Coatney on his adaptation, and there is a lot of info in it that I will need. My problem is that my bell housing is shaped differently, and there is no space to drill holes. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I can't afford to have a shop do this. Thanks. I hope I'm not asking the impossible.

I'd like to find a new home for a set of wheels that I can't identify. I was fortunate enough to pick up a set of four brand new 6.00x16s for a good price at a swap meet a couple of years. I didn't pay much attention to the wheels that they came mounted on. At first glance I thought that they were '35 & '36 Plymouth, they look somewhat similar (especially the hubcap clips), but the bolt pattern and the center hole are way too big. I suppose that makes them Kelsy - Hayes, but I'm not sure. I'm not familiar with any car that has a 5" bolt pattern. They might be off of an independent, perhaps Nash, Studebaker, etc. I doubt if they're off of any Ford or GM car, but I specialize in being wrong ! The wheels were freshly sandblasted, primed and painted. I pressume that someone bought a recently restored car and street rodded it.

Here's the dimensions on these wheels:

16" x 4 1/4" (bead)

3 1/2" Center hole

5 Lug, 5" bolt pattern

10 "spokes"

No hole for an alignment peg

Do you nice folks have any thoughts on what they fit?

Since I had no experience in installing windshields I had a local auto glass company help me with the install. He was not sure if we needed to install the bottom or top first and as a result you know what happened it cracked at the curve of the glass. I believe he was trying to put the bottom in first when this happened. Anyway I have another windshield coming from NOS that was produced new back in the 60's so I am told. Is there any procedures on installing curved glass on these dodge wagons? Any help would be appreciated.

My father has a 1953 Dodge Pickup in great condition except the radio just broke on him. It was a casette player that was installed quite a few years ago. I would really like to replace it with a CD player for him for Christmas but I'm not even sure if this is an option considering all the technology out there. All of the players seem to say that you need professional installation but I'm sure that no one at Best Buy is going to know how to install something in a classic car. Does anyone have any recommendations for me? Is there anything specific I need to be considering?

I would appreciate any and all help. Thank you!!!!

Buried Plymouth Belvedere Winner Revealed

By Matt Gergeni

If 86-year-old R.E. Humbertson, who was born on July 8, 1921, in the city of Cumberland, Maryland is out there, somebody should tell him/her that they are now the proud owner of a “rust” colored 1957 Plymouth Belvedere.

According to the results released Friday, June 22, by the Tulsarama Committee, R.E Humbertson’s guess as to what the population of Tulsa would be in the year 2007, made nearly 50 years ago, was only 2,286 off the actual census numbers, closer than any other guess.

The winner, or their closest relatives, now have five years to claim the car before it becomes the property of the Tulsa Historical Society.

“Now that the car, affectionately know as ‘Miss Belvedere,’ finally has her owner, the vision that started in 1957 has officially reached its completion,” Tulsarama co-chair Sharon King Davis said during Friday’s press conference in Tulsa. “We know that the owner will treat her with the respect she deserves, as she stands as a symbol of the spirit of Tulsa.”

As you recall, the process of awarding the car to a lucky Tulsan was started in 1957, when citizens were asked to guess what the population of Tulsa would be in 2007 (382,457), with the person who guessed the closest being given ownership of what organizers had hoped would be a pristine Plymouth and a $100 savings account worth about $700 today with interest.

However, Mother Nature had a different plan in mind and the vault that held the car began to leak and the car ended up submerged for many of the 50 years it was entombed.

R.E. Humbertson should be proud of his/her guess, as it was a whole lot closer than the 222 Billion that an ambitious 15-year-old named Ronnie Carter predicted at the time. The dates of birth of the entrants ranged from 1885 to 1957. Two entries even listed their birthplace as Indian Territory.

Bob Morgan of the accounting firm Deloitte, which tabulated the entries after the car was unearthed last weekend from the Tulsa County Courthouse lawn, said the only information available on the entry forms found in the sealed time capsule was name, date of birth and place of birth.

Finding the winner could prove difficult. The only addresses they had to work with were those on some of the “40-some-odd” mailed entries placed in the time capsule.

The rest of the entries were listed on printed forms that Morgan said appeared to have been placed around town. All told, he said, only about 850 entries were found. R.E. Humbertson’s entry appears to have been included on the printed forms and did not include an address.

Supposedly, the guesses were also to be found stored on a spool of microfilm buried with the car in a steel container. But all organizers found at last Friday's unveiling ceremony was a rusted-out canister in the back seat.

For his/her accurate guess, R.E. Humbertson (or their nearest relative) will receive the 1957 Plymouth Belvedere that has spent the past 50 years submerged underwater and underground. However, deciding what to do with the rusting relic may not prove as easy as guessing the population of Tulsa.

The condition of the car is clearly precarious with local authorities having stated over the past week that the car has continued to deteriorate since being unearthed.

Anyone knowing R.E. Humbertson or their relatives is asked to contact the Tulsa Historical Society at 918-712-9484.

Thanks for the heads up and story, Matt!
