The current title(33 Dodge) shows a fairly long VIN....but cannot find it anywhere on the body/chassis...
There is a plate w/ stamped #s on the firewall....and a serial # on the B pillar (9326166)
The body/frame + parts are currently for sale....

Hi everyone,

Total newbie and mostly ignorant.

My question concerns the use of I-Beam suspension on Chrysler Products.

I recently acquired two old front axles and the first I found to be from a 34 Ford, the second I have been TOLD is from a Dodge of some sort. It is a standard I-Beam with the small pattern five lug wheel pattern. The flat spot where the leaf springs mount has a five hole pattern which looks like the "5" on a dice. I have been told by some people that Dodge used mainly tube axles before going to independent front suspension so what could this possibly have been under?

Was there a time period where Dodge cars and pickups used I-Beams? If so what years would this have been? Thanks for any help and good to be on the forum.

I am new to this forum so hello everyone and hopefully i'll be able to gain alot of knowledge here...

So as the title states i own a 1966 Chrysler Windsor convertible.

I've had the vehicule for about 6 years now.

I would like to put on some rims but have no idea what size and bolt pattern etc i would need.

I have called a local chrysler dealer but they have no idea as well...

If anyone can help me out with this or point me in the right direction i would be more then greatful.

As well as a place where i can find parts for my vehicule. I have a few things that have broken over the years (armrest, lettering on the hood etc) that i would like to buy.

I understand that this car is not a very popular classic but i love her and i would love to fix her up a little.

Essentially though for now i would like to put on some rims...

So if anyone can help me out with what size rims (bolt pattern, et ,width etc) it would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't used my car in several months and won't be able to for several more. I'm having a service come over today to take out the old gas. They circulate fresh gas through the system which also pulls out any slug etc. One question is, is it better to leave the tank empty until I'm ready to get the car running and use it again?

The other question is can other fluids such as motor oil, tran fluid go bad just sitting?

Lastly should I take out the plugs spray oil or something in and put them back?
Like I said it's already sat for several months so I may have already ruined it.

Howdy,

My 15 year old wants a Dart for his first car. I'm pretty versatile with mechanicals from that era, and like the idea of something we can actually work on together but I'm concerned with safety of course. Originally, he wanted an aircooled VW but I had to nix that for safety reasons.

Anyone know where the Dart stands re. crashworthy-ness? Obviously it's a 70's vehicle, but any known defects or does it have a bad reputation?

Also, how available are the parts? Mainly concerned with basic driveline stuff, not so much resto parts.

Hi,

I am in need of some technical expertise. My plymouth was running fine today but after I let it sit for about an hour and tried to start it backup it started acting like the battery was dying. It eventually just clicked and nothing else but the lights are working. I was able to charge the battery but it still won't start. It turns the engine ever so slighty but, for example the fan will only spin about 20 degrees and then stop. I'm trying to narrow down the problem can anyone help?

thank you,

Hi Everyone!

I appreciate the input on my problems with my car. We did what you suggested...the timing chain appears to be alright. We removed the distributor cap, marked the rotor, turned over the engine, the rotor is moving.

The valves work off the lifters. 5 cylinders or dead. All of the intake valves would not open at the same time. Am I right? Does anyone know if there is anything electrical that would cause this to act this way. Or if there might be a safety wire to keep it from starting because of something else that could be wrong? What about a cover on the exauhst coming from under the carbeurator that opens & closes. We were told to put WD-40 on that because it looked a little stiff, maybe it isn't supposed to open & close that easily?

Any suggestions would be a help!!

Thanks.

Hi Everyone,

We re-checked the compression on our 1950 Dodge. We had a faulty compression checker.

We only have 70lbs of pressure in the #3 cylinder, the rest have no compression. Any opinions on the timing chain, or head gasket? The car was running fine until turning off the engine.

Thanks!

Hello all,

I have a 1969 300 and have a problem with either the fuel gauge or the sending unit. When I fill the tank the gauge only goes up to 3/4 tank. it seems to work ok from there but moves as if it thinks the tank is full (eg, does not sit @ 3/4 for 60-70 miles but starts to move a short time after the car is full, so obviously the reading is off by 1/4 tank). I am not sure which to check first or how to test either part but would prob start with the gauge since it is the easier of the two to work on.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi!

Does anyone know where to find 10 weight motor oil? The gyromatic transmission in my 1950 Dodge Coronet requires this. The shop manual specifically says to use only 10 weight. The stores around here don't seem to carry, and more don't seem to know anything about it.

Thanks,
