I'm finally buying my first car, its a 78 Chrysler Cordoba with the Chrysler 400 engine.

The paint is in perfect condition besides a small section on the hood and the interior is awesome, no rips no holes just one small crack on the dash.

Its got almost new tires, an Ellenbrook intake + filter, new carb, new valve covers (I forgot brand) and the alternator is about 3 times the size of the stock one + a new exhaust tip.

The guy im buying it from is asking $500 for it. Is that a good deal?

and could I clean the engine in it with a cheap 1450 PSI pressure washer if i dont get too close and stay away from electronics without damaging it?

let me know what you think about it.

Well, this is more of a plea for help from Oldcar Mechanic.

I have the old 6 cylinder in this car that I'v been restoring at work. I've been driving it in & out of the shop over the last few months that it was there, until I got it towed home. Took it off the flat-deck and thought it rather odd that it was hard to get it started to drive it into the garage. It did start, but ran realy rough and as I backed into the garage, it stalled. After several attempts to start it back up again, it felt as if the choke was full on. The carb had not been rebuilt at this point so I decided to buy a rebuild kit for it and rebuild it. Alas, that did not cure the problem and it continues to flood profusely. I'm a Painter by profession, working in a body shop, Although I do have a fair mechanical aptitude. However I have run out of ideas and am at my whits end, I even put the car on 'craigslist' but I know I'll never let it go!!(http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/cto/858540124.html) (If you're curious to see it) Any way, I would be greatfull for any help, Or if anyone has also come across this problem befor Thanx for reading, Phil.

Ok I know nothing about restoring a car. Me and My dad were supposed to restore it, He died. Then me and my Uncle were supposed to and he died. So now im sitting with a beautiful (every one else says junky) 1965 Dodge Dart GT. I want to restore it but I don't even know where to start it seems like such a big project. Ill name some of the obvious issues um please excuse if the terminology is off:

The latch mechanism for the engine hood is broken looking through the grill it appears that a spring is missing. So I cant get to the engine.

Rust everywhere but most of it is surface rust and not to deep.

The floor panels in the back seat are completely rusted through.

the rear windshield is busted.

Now front Passenger side. the wheel comes off completely I don't know how it happened it just did.

As far as I know the engine still works it worked fine a few months ago, granted the tire wasn't broken then either.

I really just need some direction where to start. What should I look for to see if its even worth repairing.

Any tips and advice are welcome Im going to post some pics tell me what you think ill post pics as requested

I just bought a 79 Chrysler Town & Country wagon and need some suggestions. It has been garaged since 83 and only has 8,000 miles on it. After a few sprays of starter fluid she started right up. Am I right to assume I need to change about every fluid in it? I figure I should drop the fuel tank and clean the lines and replace filters. Is this recommended or can I rely on a product to put in tank to recondition old gas? Im not much of a mechanic so any suggestions would be appriciated. The front brakes seem to be stuck. Thanks in advance!

Hello All,

I recently ran across these old chrysler signs here in NW Michigan and would appreciate any assistance the members on here could give in identifying them. They measure 15" X 35" and are manufactured from solid copper (weigh almst 6lbs each) & have a Greek key design around the edge. One has the remnants of a paper lable on the reverse which states their patented. The previous owner had no idea as to their heritage as she inherited them from her elder brother years ago. From the materials taht their manufactured from and style I'd guess they date from the 1930's. A friend suggested taht they might have been used in the Chrysler Building at the 1933 Century of Progress Exposition in Chicago?? Any info would be appreciated. Cheers oldcarfan

I was going through some old paperwork and came across the original BOS and owners manual for a 1966 Dodge Coronet that my step father bought used for me back in the 80's. I tried to do a vin search to locate this vehicle again, but the vin # only has 13 numbers. Does anyone know of a website where I could do a search for an older vehicle with only 13 numbers? I would love to locate this vehicle again. I remember the guy I sold it to, back in the 80's, for around $400.00 - stupid me!

Hello,

I'm helping a neighbor with his 1926 Dodge Touring car. His water pump is leaking. We've removed the water pump. Can the water pump shaft be removed? The timing gear will not come off of the water pump shaft.

Can parts for the 1926 Dodge water pump be purchased? Is so, where?

Thanks all!
