Now I am trying to sell the photographs (www.NebraskaSky.Etsy.com), but don't know what the year of the car is. If I knew the year of the car, it would help me with labeling and selling the images. If anyone could help me out, it would be great. I see Saratogas were made in the late 1950s.

I've almost got my 1937 Dodge pickup ready for paint. Got it in '07 and it was in bad shape, the engine was missing and the front axle was bent. I decided to put it on an S10 frame with a SBC and a Turbo 350 transmission. The lower half of the cab was rusted out so I fabricated the sheet metal panels to replace the lower cowl sides, cab corners and rear cab section. All four fenders had been worked several times in the past and the bed floor was beat to hell. What was left of the grille and shell were also pretty bad. I hope to have it ready for paint by spring, will be painting it a flat tan color. I used a little filler on the cab corners but don't want to fill every dent and rust pit. In order to do a nice gloss paint job it would be 99% filler to get the surface smooth. I will be keeping this truck and don't want to see the filler fail after a few years, flat paint will hide a lot of imperfections will be easy to touch up.

The Chrysler corp. semi-automatic transmission is not very efficient but it is simple and reliable. The major weak spot is gradual erosion and burning of the governor contact points. HERE IS A SIMPLE CURE: Connect a diode across the wiring terminals on the transmission solenoid. Connect the positive (banded) end of the diode to the "hot" terminal and the other end of the diode to the terminal connecting the solenoid to the governor. A typical diode should be in the neigborhood of 450 volts/1 amp (available at Radio Shack). The diode "shorts" the back-voltage developed in the solenoid when the points open, thereby nearly eliminating arcing and gradual erosion of the points. The transmission will operate normally with this simple modification.

Hi,my name is Jim and I am in Jackson,Michigan. I have a 54 New Yorker that I got in a trade. The car has no engine or trans. Originally it had a 331 Hemi that the previous owner pulled out and used it in his hot rod. I looked for another 331 and trans to put in the car but did not find anything that was reasonable in price. i ended up getting a 400 B engine from a 74 Newport along with a 727 trans. I would like to put this combo into the New Yorker unless i find someone with a 331 and trans that would like to trade for the 400. I have gone through the 400 and regasketed it as overall the enine is in good condition. I found a aftermarket 4 bbl intake for it and a holley 600 cfm carb to go on top.

I have been doing some measuring and finding there is not much room front to back for this engine. It looks like I will need to use an electric pusher fan assembly in front of the radiator and lose the mechanical fan. I was able to find OE motormounts for the engine but will need to fab mounts to go onto the frame of the car. It also looks like there is a problem with the exhaust manifolds in that the outlet on the driver's side dumps out on top of the power steering gear box. the 6 volt generator (i'd like to change over to 12 volt) has the power steering pump attached to the back of the generator.

So now you are able to see some of the problems I am facing in order to stuff this engine into the engine bay.

Has anyone performed an engine swap like this and if so how did you address some of these problems that i have mentioned as well as any other problems that I have not forseen yet? I thought I saw somewhere where someone was talking about getting rid of the p/s gear box and using a rack and pinion setup from a Cavalier (anyone know the details?). I am wondering also what pump was used?

My father was a Chrysler engineer during the time this car was built. He passed away when I was a lot younger than I am now and I would like to put this car together but not necessarily in stock form. He was into performance so he would appreciate this car seeing as he helped to design it. He was with Chrysler until 1962.

Any and all ideas, suggestions, experience in doing a swap like this is welcome! I think this would be a cool deal with a 400bb between the frame rails along with the 727 trans. Thank you in advance. Jim

I did some research and i cant find anything on Edwards Car Company and i found out that Dodge started in 1900 and up until 1916, they only made parts for Ford. As of 1916 they made their first complete car, following in 1927 i believe, they were bought out buy Chrysler. thats alll the info i can find but im very interested in finding out what history i can about the reciepts and business card and possibly a value. i appreciate any responses from anyone who might have some hidden history i havent found or overlooked.

hey guys,

I ran across a guy with a nice Highlander trim 1950 Chrysler sedan with the original but well worn upholstery. He can't find a source for the fabric but howstuffworks states the fabric is still available for restorers. I've googled the heck out of it but no luck. I took the guys card and told him I would see what I could do. Does anyone here have any possible source for the raw fabric?

Hello all,

I hope you're doing well. Well, I don't have any knowledge when it comes to old Dodge cars... All I know is we have a 1955 4dr Dodge Royal.. it has the original motor (semi hemi?) and transmission. It runs, but needs a little brake work. The interior is in fair condition, the exterior needs a little work, no huge dings, just a few spots of surface rust... It's a pretty neat car.

We're not sure if it's worth anything to sell, we have a baby on the way and this seems to be the best option. Unless it's not worth much - we can just hold on to it...

I'd love your input... We're complete newbies when it comes to this particular car.

Thank you so much,

My name is Jesse, I am pert owner of Jade Lotus tattoo and piercing in Burlington Vt, and I am a vintage motorcycle enthusiast, and I am thinking of taking the plunge into old cars. I am looking at a 1962 Chrysler Newport this evening, and am looking for a little guidance from some of you more experienced members. What are things I should look out for with this car? What I have gotten from the previous owner is that the car is originally from Texas, and has very little rust, it still has the original paint, but most of the clear coat is gone, It is running rough, but drives, does not burn oil, and is the 2-door hard top with the push button auto transmission. When talking to the current owner it sounds like the gas in it could be old.

My main question is does it need lead re-placer with every fuel up? There is a gas station near me that does non-ethanol gas, should I try to only fill up there (I have heard that ethanol can damage older seals/fuel lines.)

I am planning on doing an oil change/all fluids change right off the bat, is there any special oil, transmission fluid, coolant...that I should be looking for?

and what would be a fair asking price for one of these with low rust, runs and drives? (I know its hard without pics, but a price range would be help full)

Any help would be appreciated,

Thank you

I just bought a 1931 plymouthand have bought new harness's as the old wiring is falling a part and was pieced together. There is supposed to be a fuse on the ammeter gauge under the dash. There isn't one there. Does anyone know what size (amp) it is supposed to have. It has the original generator on it. Thank you for any help you can give me.
