1955 Ford Crown Victoria - Glasstop
There are some cars out there that are just special. This is one of them. Its not necessarily the type of car that sets it apart but the quality that went into the build. That's not to say the car isn't cool because the Glasstop Crown Victoria has great style and is a sought after classic. It's just that from front to rear this car was done right. It has an interesting history in that it has undergone full restorations twice. The first restoration was done from 1990-1993 with the body removed and every component gone through. After wards the car was shown throughout the US and actually took first place in the national Crown Victoria show. The car continued to be well cared for and enjoyed until around 2006. At this point normal wear and tear from being shown and driven had occurred. It was now time to bring it back to its national winning show condition and it was restored again. The car has 56,000 original miles and is all numbers matching. Do the math and you will see that is less than 1000 miles a year on the road. Add all that to the fact that this car is only 1 out of 1,999 and you have a rare classic!
The Waterfall Blue and White color combination has that nostalgic look that never gets old. The body lines on these cars were very unique with the paint being separated by a nice polished trim piece that runs the entire length of the car. The car has all the correct trim from the fenders to the windows and it is all in great condition. It even has the correct chrome accents on the rear fender skirts. This is the type of car where the more you look the more starts to pop out at you. Subtle features like the chrome half moon headlight covers and the blue dots in the taillights really set this car apart. The front and rear bumpers are nicely chromed with a continental kit in rear. The spare wheel cover has been painted to match the car with the outer ring polished. If you thought sunroofs were a new luxury then this is the car to check out. Well they had it back in 1955 and the glasstop in this car is in great condition as is the rest of the windows. The car has a very solid stance and rolls around on the original style wheels and hubcaps with nice wide whitewall tires.
Under the hood of this classic is a 272 cubic inch 162 horsepower motor that runs very well. Not only does it start up with no problems but has an amazing look. All of the components are very nicely painted or chromed. The Ford Special oil bath air cleaner has that vintage look and tops the engine off perfectly. The 3 speed manual transmission shifts very nicely and with no problems. The car's electrical system has been upgraded to 12 volt and everything works properly.
The interior of the car has a beautiful look and has been just as nicely done as the rest. The dash is all painted to match the car and is topped with the original style gauges, knobs, and switches. Even the vintage compass is in place by the windshield. The only aftermarket component is the added tachometer and temp gauge which has been placed under the dash. The split bench seat is done in a Blue/White combination and is very comfortable. The trunk of the car is finished out as well and houses a spare wheel.
This is a beautiful classic that truly ranks above other
