Dodge Charger, Yellow, for sale in Charlotte, North Carolina, for $34,995.
The Dodge Charger remains one of the most popular musclecars of all time, and this 1970 model explains why: big power, great looks, and a handsome interior that's big enough for five adults to cruise in comfort. Restored from a base Charger with a wheezing 2-barrel 318 under the hood, it now packs 440 cubic inches of thunder and a gorgeous bright yellow paint job that stands out in a crowd. With similar cars selling for $50,000 or more, this one represents something of a bargain.
If anything, the bright yellow paint emphasizes the long, lean lines of the Charger, and the subtle curve that flares up behind the door. Combined with those squared-off fenders and sharp flying buttresses, it's a car that will never, ever go out of style. The body panels on this car are original, with only the floors and trunk pan being replaced during the restoration, and it fits together just like the factory did it 41 years ago. However, the paint is worlds better than any factory in 1970 could ever manage, using two-stage urethane to create a surface that's as smooth as a mirror and absolutely no ripples or waves. A black bumblebee stripe was added out back, which is specified on the fender tag. Either way, it looks ideal and cars without the stripe always seem to look unfinished. Both bumpers, including the unique front bumper that surrounds the grille and headlights, have been re-chromed, and all the remaining trim has been professionally buffed. And yes, before you ask, the headlights work perfectly.
Inside, the black interior features high-back bucket seats and a center console, all of which have been fully restored. The gauges are new, and yes, this was an original factory air car and today sports a modern Vintage Air setup. New carpets, beautiful new door panels, and a taut headliner add to the new feeling inside, although the original Music Master AM radio is missing, but could be easily replaced with, say, an restored unit with a hidden FM upgrade. The trunk offers a fresh mat.
With less than 25 miles on a full rebuild, the 440 under the hood and the matching TorqueFlite transmission haven't even been broken in yet. Dressed with a lot more flash than original, there's a chrome air filter, cast aluminum Mopar Performance valve covers, and about a gallon of Hemi Orange paint on the big block. Power steering is included, but the brakes are 100% up to the driver. Underneath, the floors are new and finished with a light coat of protectant, the exhaust system is a reproduction stock setup, and a heavy duty Dana 60 rear end. Magnum 500 wheels are by far the best looking setup on a vintage Charger, and these wear a recent set of BFGoodrich T/A radials.
This big block Charger is available for less than the cost of the restoration. Call today!
