Dodge Charger, Red, for sale in Charlotte, North Carolina, for $39,995.
With just one owner from new, you know this 1968 Dodge Charger is a special car. One owner cars, including this one, often come with a ton of documentation and have usually been lovingly preserved and restored to original condition. Wearing a fresh coat of paint, and loaded with accessories like A/C, a tachometer, console, and bucket seats, this is a fantastic Mopar that will deliver top-tier appreciation at a very reasonable price.
Repainted in its original Charger Red, this handsome coupe has only one deviation from stock specification, and that's the removal of the black vinyl top. The only new sheetmetal on the entire car is the driver's quarter panel, but not because of rust, but because it was damaged by a careless driver in a parking lot-exactly how many restorations get their start. The body is laser straight and I'm guessing that it didn't need a lot of extra work to get it ready for paint. However, the two-stage urethane is vastly superior to the original Mopar enamel, and the shine is about ten feet deep when you're up close. All the trim, brightwork, and badges are 100% original and in excellent condition.
The 1968 Charger interior is a triumph of design, with the split seat covers, elegant yet race-inspired dashboard, and brushed aluminum center console. In this particular car, it remains the original C6X black vinyl specified on the fender tag and everything is in excellent shape. The splits on the seats are, of course, part of the design and there's no damage to the seams. The black carpets are excellent and the headliner is taut. All the original gauges, including the optional tachometer, remain in place and operational, and yes, this is an original factory A/C car. Even the factory-issue Music Master AM radio is in the dash. Other neat options include the remote driver's outside mirror and hood-mounted turn signals.
The original, matching-numbers 383 remains under the hood, fresh off a complete rebuild 800 miles ago. Dominated by the A/C compressor, the engine bay is finished with an original air cleaner, finned aluminum valve covers, and new hoses and lines throughout. Wearing Mopar turquoise paint on the block, the big V8 rumbles to life with that characteristic Chrysler starter sound, and settles into an even, authoritative idle. Power brakes and steering make the big Charger a pleasure to wheel around town, and the rebuilt Torqueflite automatic snaps through the gears like it can read your mind. Out back the original 8.75-inch rear is full of acceleration-assisting 3.73 gears. The car received a disc brake upgrade during the restoration, and rides on gorgeous Keystone mag wheels with Uniroyal radials.
Documents include the original owner's manual, warranty booklet, and owner's card, as well as the factory fender tag.
This is a fantastic car with a lot of history behind it. Clean, one-owner Chargers don't come along every day, making this one's modest price tag somewhat of a surprise. Don't miss this chance and call today!
