Chevrolet Silverado, Red, for sale in Charlotte, North Carolina, for $13,995.
Are the Chevy C/K series pickup trucks collectable yet? This low-mile 1993 Silverado pickup makes a good case for it. They're rugged, handsome, well-designed machines that build on a tradition of comfortable workhorses, and this one has obviously led a very easy life. It's up to you to decide whether it deserves a spot in your show garage or as a great hauler that still has a lot of work left in it.
Showing just 18,000 original miles, this truck really has been babied all its life. That's almost exactly 1000 miles per year, or about 20 miles per week. That explains why the original paint looks so good, why the factory sheetmetal is intact, and why the chrome and trim are shiny and bright with no dings, rust, damage, or even real signs of age. It has been nicely accessorized with chrome step bars, a hard shell tonneau cover that has been color-matched to the red body, and a rubber bed liner that covers up a barely used steel bed. Heck, even the original dealership's decal is still clinging to the tailgate, and there's not even a corner that's coming unstuck!
The story continues inside where the cloth bench seat is a veritable time capsule back to 1993, when gray fabric was the standard upholstery choice in almost everything built in America. There's virtually zero wear, even on those high-traffic areas like the driver's seat cushion and the carpet under the pedals. The rectangular dash isn't exactly stylish, but it fits the truck's functional personality and includes a complete array of easy-to-read gauges that are all fully functional. There's also cold factory A/C and an optional cassette player that was installed separately from the radio in the center of the dash, just like they did it in the '60s. A sliding rear window is a great accessory, making the cabin breezy without a lot of wind, and I don't think I'd own a pickup without that feature. You also get power windows, power locks, a tilt wheel, and cruise control, making this a truck that can be used daily without sacrifice. In fact, according to the original window sticker, this truck carries more than $6000 worth of options!
The original 350 cubic inch V8 under the hood is one of the most reliable powerplants ever devised, and they've been known to run flawlessly for hundreds of thousands of miles. Most of this one's life is still ahead of it, and you can drive it with confidence, perhaps towing your favorite collector car behind. The condition of the engine compartment is proof that this has always been a nicely kept truck, and the chassis is just as nice. Even those upscale alloy wheels show zero blemishes, and wear recent BFG T/A radials.
So you decide: collector's item or simply a nice truck? Either way, you need to call today!
