Cadillac Eldorado Brougham, for sale in Arlington, Texas, for $128,000.
1958 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham
Whether you have heard of the Eldorado Brougham or not, this is a classic you just have to check out. These cars were a limited edition Cadillac and have joined the ranks of Copo Camaros, Kaiser Darrins, Hemi Cudas, and others as one of the rarest out there. Why so rare? Well, we say limited edition we mean it. Only 304 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Broughams were produced and the number still in existence is unknown. Think of all the rusted out cars on the side of the road and you will quickly realize there is a good chance it is a lot less than 304. If being a member of this elite group wasn't enough, this car in particular is even more special. Not only is it in beautiful original condition but it is coated in Maharani Maroon which was special ordered with paint code 152. The color looks great on the car and suits it well paired with the roof. It may have seemed like a simple paint choice at the time but fast forward over 50 years and this makes the car incredibly unique. Only 4 were ordered with this option!
When Cadillac created the Brougham they built on a design that was already known for luxury. They created what was truly the car to have. If you thought anyone could just go down and pick one up then guess again. The car was priced at $13,074.00 new and that was option free. That would equate to $100,000 today and thats before the car completed the task of surviving for 55 years! From front to rear the car had the perfect look. The fins, stainless, and chrome all work perfectly together to create the total look of affluence. The stainless steel roof tops it all off and on this classic it looks like new. The car has all of the exterior accents and everything is in place. The body is entirely rust free and has been so since it was new. It has been extremely well cared for and has lived in dry storage for 11 years with its current owner of 18 years. It began life in California and has had very few owners. You really won't find many cars like this that are as much a museum piece as they are a vehicle.
In true Cadillac fashion not only did you have to look the part cruising down the road, you had to feel it on the inside. The four doors open up to great you with a very clean White diamond tuck interior that is in good condition. The rear door opens in a suicide style which is correct from the factory but look close and you will see these cars were designed a little different than the typical 4 door 50s car. They fully open with no post separating the front and rear. The upholstery all looks good and the mouton carpet is in place. Having a seat you will quickly see it has every touch of luxury you could ask for. The car came from the factory with multiple vanities including a tin wallet, steel shot glasses, make up storage and more! All of these original pieces are very rare to come by and all are neatly packed away in place on this classic. The only missing components include the perfume bottle and pen. Cadillac couldn't stop there though. They had to make sure their client had all of the newest technology to make the car ride perfect. This included air ride, air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, power memory seat, a power antenna, power trunk, power windows, and power locks. Pretty high tech for 1958! The entire dash of the car is just as original as the rest with all of the correct knobs/switches/gauges/etc.
The drive train of this car is all original with the correct V8 and 3 speed automatic. It is similar to the 57 drivetrain but the compression was increased to 10.25:1 and it cranks out 355 horsepower. This year was also upgraded with a 3, 2 barrel carburetor tri power set up.
Take a look around and you will see coming across these cars is a tough find. They rarely go up for sale and are usually tucked away in collections. You won't have many opportunities to see one, let alone buy it!
