Buick Wildcat, Silver, for sale in Charlotte, North Carolina, for $34,995.
In perfect balance with the times is this 1964 Buick Wildcat Custom 2-door convertible, model #4600 with a numbers matching 425cid 340hp Nailhead - V-8 mated to a Super Turbine 3-speed automatic transmission. This beauty was long and low. Stylish now that the portholes were eliminated and hash marks were employed on the lower front quarter panels immediately behind the front wheel housings. And this convertible shows well with its glossy silver color over a black vinyl interior and black top. Some of the options include power steering, power brakes, power seats and windows. A power convertible top, AM/FM radio, cruise control, bucket seats with console, tilt-a-matic steering column, courtesy lights, a speed buzzer, a tachometer, remote trunk release and mirror, and dual exhaust. It appears that this Wildcat shows no body panel replacements. Body and trim panels look good, partly because this car was born in Wilmington Delaware, a plant that always was known for its good quality. Paint is glossy, interior looks very good and compare the driver's door panel and armrest to that of the passenger's side. The drivers side looks as good as the passenger side. And look in the trunk. It looks brand new. Only wrapped boxes in here! And very rare is the spare tire cover. Those usually didn't make it past the warranty period. This car has been beautifully cared for.
Buick's advertising noted this car as The next thing to owning a Riviera. And these advertisements were on full pages and in color. The advertising slogan must have worked because total Wildcat production in 1964 was 84245 examples. These are impressive numbers but what should be especially noted here is that only 7850 convertibles were produced that year. And especially noteworthy is this car was a 'special customer order' car.
The suspension was further upgraded and included a link stabilizer bar and a semi floating rear axle using a 3-bar link with a track bar for 1964. Tires, shocks hoses and belts all look fresh and ready for the road. The top fits nice too. If perfect balance of The Powerful 60's is something that you want to consider or re-live again, please consider this beautiful Wildcat. I might suggest you stay away from the Tail of the Dragon but the roads leading up and away from it will allow this Wildcat to growl. To really enjoy this beauty take it on up and on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Make sure you set the speed buzzer though. It will allow you to take in the sunshine, wind and air with that top down. And do I need to mention investments here? Not a bit. This car is 47 years old and will only increase in value. And with this investment you can look at it, polish it, drive it and show it.
