Buick Regal T Type Turbo, Silver, for sale in Charlotte, North Carolina, for $14,995.
If you're a car guy, I don't care what you drive, you know better than to mess with the big, bad, blown Buicks. Right out of the box, the T-Types were potent enough to give contemporary Corvettes a good run for their money, but with a few modifications, they can stomp just about anything on four wheels. This extremely clean 1987 T-Type has been only lightly modified, and is now ready to go out and beat up any lesser car that's foolish enough to tangle with it at the stop light grand prix.
The dark gray paint is a nice alternative to the all-black finish these cars usually sport, and it's considerably less common. Nicely preserved, it's a sure bet that this car was never used for the daily grind, and there are few signs of use anywhere on the car. The dome on the hood was functional, helping to clear the intake duct that feeds the engine, and a very subtle deck lid spoiler probably didn't do a lot for high-speed stability, but it gives the Buick just enough attitude. And all that blacked-out trim, smartly accented by chrome bumpers reminds you that this is still a luxury car on the inside.
Inside, you won't forget that you're driving a Buick, as every luxury and convenience item was standard equipment. The gray fabric upholstery is grippy enough for spirited driving and has held up well over the years. Matching gray carpets don't do much for contrast, but they're in good shape with only minor signs of use. The standard Regal's instrument panel left a lot to be desired in a performance car, so Buick engineers stuffed a tiny bar-graph style tachometer in the corner, and the owner has wisely added Auto Meter boost and temperature gauges in a custom pod on the center console. The original 1987 Delco AM/FM/cassette stereo remains in the dash, graphic equalizer and all, but a Sirius/XM satellite radio system ensures that the music is up to date.
Supercar describes the performance as well. While the stock turbo Buicks were potent, this one is downright threatening. The beefy 3.8 liter V6 has been augmented by a set of oversized fuel injectors, a K&N intake, and the turbo now huffs up to 20 pounds of boost, which makes this car explosive at any speed, in any gear. The quick-shifting 4-speed automatic is a great partner, allowing you to keep both hands on the wheel while your foot is flat on the floor. You'll be grateful for the fat Nitto radials on the blacked-out GNX wheels every time you dip into this car's seemingly endless reserves of torque.
If you weren't around in the late-80s when these cars were street predators, prepare to be amazed by how fast the boxy Buick really is. And if you already know all about Buick performance, then this is your opportunity to pick up one of the most potent Buicks we've ever featured. Call today!
