Austin Healey 3000 MKIII BJ8, for sale in Belmont, Massachusetts, for $69,900.
This 1967 Austin Healey 3000 MK III, (also called a BJ8) # HBJ8L36092, was restored completely by Fourintune Garage Inc. in 2004 for the previous owner. This was a ground-up restoration which involved taking the car down to the bare chassis for repair and total rebuilding. This model is the very last of the production cars known as the “Big Healeys” and is considered by many the most desirable of the later production Healeys due to the modern roll-up windows, walnut dash and other improvements and amenities.
All mechanicals were completely rebuilt: including transmission, electrics, suspension, exhaust, cooling, steering, brakes and fuel system.
The car has been fitted with new Dayton Wheel Company 72 spoke chrome wire wheels and Vredestein tires. All trim on the car is in excellent condition; many original parts were replated to show quality finish. The seats were recovered previously using kits made of the blue vinyl material with correct embossing and piping. Seats were done to original styling. Top, boot and tonneau cover are new and patterned as original using a blue, British “everflex” material.
The exterior of the car is Healey Blue over Old English White which was an original color scheme offered by the factory.
This Big Healey is an outstanding touring car, and has been fitted with a sport exhaust, a secondary fuel pump, and a hidden CD player. It is ready for show or go!
BACKGROUND: The current owner, a retired USAF general, acquired this BJ8 in early 2007 to replicate the Healey he owned while stationed at an RAF base in England in the late 1960s, where he took delivery from Geoffrey Healey himself. This Healey after its superb restoration has been beautifully maintained, and looks like it is a few months out of the show room.
This Healey comes with a file documenting its restoration.
